Trees are beautiful just as much as they are important for the continuity of life on earth!

So what is your favourite type of tree and why? Any memories with that type of tree?

Maple? Palm? Willow? Magnolia?

They are taller than usual pines. And centuries ago men used them to build particular types of ships (my dad said so).

We had one in the garden (in the countryside) when I was little. The tree was soo exceptionally tall that it creeped me out, especially during storms. 8-)

Random thread, I like it!

This is NZ native the Pohutakawa tree. Which reminds me of home...

The Gulmohar Tree.

They remind me of this beautiful road which lead to my school when I was a kid. They formed this beautiful fiery red roof all along the road, and it seemed as if the sky was ablaze. If only I had taken a picture...

Trees are oh so beautiful! :o

I love looking at them, though I don't have a favourite

But if I did it'd be a Red Maple Tree, the red leaves are just too beautiful!

MonaBlissa That Oak Tree looks like the Major Oak in Sherwood Forrest.

My avitar picture is me next to another Oak in Sherwood Forest :)

Oaks can grow massive. As an historian I came accros where I used to live (in another part of Sheffield) old records relating to the Oak Trees there. One called the Ladies Oak could shelter 200 horsemen under it's branches. Another was 13 feet in diameter near the roots!
They chopped one down around 1660 and two men on horseback stood either side of the fallen trunk and neither could see the tip of the others hat :o

They stood in Sheffield Park on the Manor Area. Now infamous for being one of the worst estates in the UK

I remember Oak Trees lining and connecting across walkways of various neighborhoods as a child. Some are still around, but hurricanes did a lot of damage.
