Some Uk sales Info

Dream On becomes the third hit from the eponymous debut album of Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. Debuting at number 52 (5,188 sales), it sold only 1,344 copies on download, but 2,002 on 12-inch vinyl and 1,852 on CD. It falls short of the Top 200 download chart, but ranks first on the 12-inch vinyl chart and first on the CD chart. Its arrival is not enough to prevent the album from dipping out of the Top 20 for the first time. It falls 18-25 (7,843 sales) after 21 straight weeks in the top tier.

Great.

How far is it behind DOYS?
From the last post I found from the 'DOYS' forum, it was showing sales of:

- 609,147 to weekending 6/16/2010

Not sure what estimates would be now about 18 months after, but I expect it to be pretty close within the next few months. Should easily overtake this year with the summer festivals.

Did some looking and found some other numbers on Wiki, which I personally think are waaaaay off, but hey, maybe someone with all the access to charts is updating that. They list it as follows:

UK Sales 800k with Worldwide at 1.524mil which I feel is a bit over, but you never know.

I remember seeing a promo for Death of You and Me single and it flashing across the screen that DOYS had done 5 mil plus worldwide, but I'm not sure how accurate that is either or if I was mistaken and they were talking about albums plus single sales?

The most recent stat that I saw for DOYS was around 625K as of late 2010 I think. It was from one of the various Oasis threads on UK mix...not the DOYS one though. It seems about right to me....geenerous if anything. There can't have been many sales since.

800K in the UK is definitely wrong. They sold under 600K in 2008 (around 550K I think), but the album was already out of the top 40 by this time of year. No way did they sell over 200K post 2008.

I think somewhere between 1.5-2 million worldwide is reasonable. Definitely over a million. The only possible explanation of the 5 million is singles plus albums...but even that I'd be extremely sceptical of.

Found that Noel & Co. are down to:

Scottish Album Chart from 3/18/12:
- #14

Anyone know if the Scot album totals are part of the UK numbers? I find them on the 'Official Charts Company' as a 'Regional Chart'.

Was just wondering, but if not, that's pretty awesome that he is still doing that well. I know it's not as big a market, but still cool.
