I hope "Not Myself Tonight" didn't really kill Christina's career

She just needs to get back on shape, lose weight, and come back stronger!!!

- "Only U" - Ashanti
- "What the hell" - Avril Lavigne
- "Girl" or whatever the name is, by Ciara
- "Tambourine" - by Eve
- "A Public Affair" - Jessica Simpson
- "Party Queen" - Ayumi Hamasaki (LOL)
- All Damita Jo's singles by Janet Jackson

- "Rock the Boat" - Aaliyah (Literally)

"Electric Youth" by and large killed Debbie Gibson's career in the US. The video is generally regarded as one of the worst ever. The album it was the title track of was #1 for a month and the first single "Lost In Your Eyes" was also a big #1, then the second single stopped short of the top 10 at #11, and then her career quickly went into freefall afterwards.

On the R&B charts, Estelle's Thank You was a modest hit on it's own merit...

To most people, Estelle's "career" isn't seen as such and most people reduce her to singing this urban summer hit 3 years ago...

So she needs to prove if she's able to build up a career before we think of a single which could kill it then...

In Europe it did nothing and they still have hits to this day, but in America "Domino Dancing" killed Pet Shop Boys. It was well documented in the A Life In Pop documentary that MTV and radio turned its back to them after this video which was deemed homoerotic. It immediately ended their run of top 40 singles here whereas they managed to keep having top 10 hits in the UK throughout the 90's and into the millennium.

Electric Youth IMO killed Debbie, at least when you consider how it did and the singles that followed compared to how she did before it.

IMO Vibeology was the point where it all went downhill for Paula. Both those songs you mentioned were minor hits (and the final ones to make any impression really) but I think the damage was already done by those singles.
