I think most of her albums could do with a trim, there is nearly always one or two tracks that I really don't like. The only Janet album where I absolutely LOVE every track is All For You.

I don't know what is happening to me but I'm playing "Damita Jo" everyday for the past week. It has become like a drug to me!

It's such a strong album that works great as a whole. I deleted "Truly" and "Spending Time With You" and replaced them with "I'm Here" and "Could This Be Love" respectively. I also added "Ruff" right after "Sexhibition" and "Put Your Hands On" to close out the album. It's perfect this way. 8-)
I'm thinking of maybe adding "Put It On You" too because the beat is hot and her vocals are loud and clear, but I don't know where to place it. Same with "Pops Up" which is pretty short so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll think about it...

Sidenote, I'm totally obsessed with "Strawberry Bounce". It's funny how you can grow to love songs you used to really dislike. That performance on SNL helped. Biscuits, you were right it really is one of Janet's best performances. It's very theatrical and she got her whole femme fatale side going on. The cigar and pose at the end >>>>>>>>

Yes, that performance made me LOVE Strawberry Bounce and I even had the mp3 of it now. And Janet is actually singing live there! I love how feminine she is in that performance - it's so sexy!

Damita Jo is her best album for me. I will forever hold a grudge against Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for saying that things were uninspired between them and Janet after All for You.

Besides the 1,000,000 interludes, I think the "Janet." album is becoming my favorite of hers.

I'm so hungry for her to have a hit again. Growing up in the '90s, she wasn't like this. Flop was never in her vocabulary (from 1986's Control) until 2004. :-? I am still very much optimistic for her! :D :D

I don't consider Janet as ever having a flop.
She has had circumstances beyond her control stopping projects from reaching high maturity in the market. Instead, there is a launch, then an instant decline.
Radio blacklisting, lack of label support, communication and promotion.
'Feedback' is the classic example. A guareenteed hit for Janet that didn't impact because nobody knew it was out, and those that did didn't know when to buy it.

This is not exactly true. In this age and era, where everything swirls over the Internet, everyone was very aware of the fact Janet was releasing a single for a brand new album. In fact, the single did good in the US (better than Madonna's latest release - especially when you consider the amount of promo she had). She peaked at #7 in sales, which wasn't that bad.

I remember hearing Feedback on the radio several times...

Not on pop radio stations, of course...but I heard it on urban, urban AC and the occasional rhythmic station...

It's a hot song. Definitely hot...

It just didn't get the push it deserved.
I can feel this light that's inside of me, growing fast into a bolt of lightning. I know one spark will shock the world...

Yes, there is one

One of her most interesting performance of the DJ era, though.

There are many songs in the Damita Jo era that would have been great to see on tour!

Damita Jo is great much better than All for you, even though her voice is a bit week in DJ.

I used to hate "Funny How Time Flies" and "Throb", but now I really really like both. Even "With U" is dangerously growing on me. Those strings and guitars at the end >>>>

Damn you, Damita!

2 of her best non-singles!

Janets voice is not weak. She has a unique style. In fact often the reason why she sounds weak is cause shes hitting high notes and her tone interprets it as a whispery sound.
Damita jo has many vocally 'loud' tracks, 'sexibition', 'island life', 'i want you', 'what can i say' to name a few.

I need new Janet. I'm dying to hear what she not only would sound like but look like in this heavy dance oriented industry. I hope an album is in the making.
Azealia Banks is the future!
