One Direction didn't seem to have that problem. This EP thing is a sign that they don't think they're gonna do too well.

I'd understand an EP if they didn't have a hit, like Ellie Goulding for example. But they have a massive single out.

1D didn't have the same problem because Columbia records decided to release the album a week earlier after seeing great demand from fans to release it early. It was at this point that their label were confident that their album would do well because of huge demand. Sadly The Wanted don't seem to be getting huge demand.

The fact that The Wanted are releasing an EP shows that the label aren't confident that it will do well even though they have a hit single imo. Their EP hasn't even surfaced on the iTunes 100 USA albums which shows that their preorders are very low. As soon as 1D announced the release date for their album the preorders were so high that it entered on the top 50 on itunes.

I don't know exactly HOW they did it as quickly as they did, but 1D have already successfully tapped into the screaming-fanatical-teenage-girl demographic here. the girls who will run out the day an album's released and buy as many copies as their allowances allow. like I said, I don't know how they did it already, but their US promo schedule shows that they're aimed at that demographic: touring with Big Time Rush (Nickelodeon's Jonas Brothers), iCarly, the Kids' Choice Awards.

The Wanted aren't so blatantly trying to market themselves to that key album-buying market. they've performed on Ellen and MTV's Spring Break - not the same audience as the pre-teen/teen girls who will fork over whatever money they have to support those five super-mega-totally-cute boys in 1D. the college girls at MTV's Spring Break won't be as eager to rush out and buy an album as the 12 year old girl who genuinely believes that Zayn is her future husband.

any rate, that was just a long way of saying you can't expect The Wanted to sell like 1D just because they have a big hit. they might, and I hope they do, but I think the label is trying to "play it safe" by releasing something cheaper.

This isnt' about 1D plus they appeal to a completely different audience. And like i said before im sure a "Proper Album" will come out eventually "DEF JAM RECORDS" knows what they;re doing.

Dont state you opinions as fact their management are confident in them & knows what they;re doing.

I know this isn't about 1D but I'm not the only one making the comparisons. You've also done it before as I've seen in some of your posts mentioning how you hope TW will do better than 1D, so I guess I'm not the only one bringing in 1D.

If you look back at my post I actually didn't state my opinions as fact I actually wrote 'imo' at the end for a reason.

I never understood why that was just a deluxe track, I mean it may be not completely their sound, but it is something to get a easy hit with imo.
Exactly! Stupid decision not to include it on the EP they're going to release...

Like what I said, this EP thing worked for Bieber, it made people warm up to his music, and when he released the full album, he became a superstar, so I don't think it's wrong for them to do the same, especially since the US isn't their territory to begin with.

Bieber is all hype. He has no true hits in the US. He has never even had a single top 10 hit on the radio. The EP idea for this band is a horrible idea.

I disagree, Baby was a big hit. Plus its not Hype considering he can get Multi Platinum Albums with next to No Airplay

Boyfriend is about to become his first "True" Radio hit.. almost Top 10.

But I think an EP is a good idea for the Wanted. Especially since their material is a couple of years old in some cases.. as opposed to One Direction who's album is still fairly new.
Got a bottle of whatever but "Let's Get In This Truck" wtf

The promo is alright. I just hoped they would do some more tv shows/performances. Hopefully they can do as good as One Direction did the first week, although that seems unlikely. It should do 100K + though!

I hope they've got some more tv promo coming up prior to the billboard performance.

SNL would be good promo and the Us promo tour should help keep the sales going strong.

I know they are doing well on the charts as well as airplay and I'm really proud of them. I was just wondering if they are going to perform on the plaza because I think that would be great :D

It dropped slightly from #3 to #4. Oh well, there's nothing to worry about as the performance on the View tomorrow should help it to rise back up. If they can stay at the top 5 for the whole week then that will be great. :)

It's gonna be a tough week for them as they'll be competing with Jack White's new release.
