Don't know about Janet, but Mariah used to tweet very often and even sent me a DM once 8-)

it might not be so evident in the SScan numbers, but should at least re-certify Rainbow, Merry Christmas and Greatest Hits + give "The Remixes" it's Gold certification, not to speak about some singles...

Concerned as she is about her success, maybe even Mariah herself will apply for those certs if someone reminds her of that :lol:

Uugghh. Rainbow and MXmas do not need to be re-certified. MC fans like to think so, but there are no numbers to support it.

It's more probable than improbable that "Merry Christmas" is around 6 million sold in the US already! 5.2 million sold only through Soundscan is a good clue.

+ BMG + Columbia + the % of the market that wasn't covered by SS in mid 90s....

Merry has shipped around 1M copies since it's last certification so I don't see why it's so impossible that it's eligible for 6x Platinum since xmas albums don't have many more copies shipped than what they really sell.

As for "Rainbow", it's soundscan number it's almost what the album is certified for and she was always certified for way more than what she sold through soundscan since her albums sold very well in music clubs so it's also nothing so unlikely that it's up to 4x Platinum right now...

Mariah's sales from Columbia house aren't known though her BMG ones are great Rainbow for example sold 450,000 through BMG when the numbers were released in 02

The last time I saw (when it was still not long after release) it was at 870K. I am sure it's well above 900K by now and has shipped 1 million copies.

It should be platinum. As a matter of fact, every studio plus her GH should be platinum or more, minus SWET... and, by a stretch, it could be depending on initial shipments during the ultra-busy, ship heavy Christmas season!
