I know Sertab won Eurovision and the girl with the ridiculously long surname was in Neighbours, that's about all!

Elkie Brooks, Sheena Easton, Anne Murray, Roberta Flack, Alannah Myles, Emmylou Harris, Kim Carnes, Helen Shapiro, Trisha Yearwood, Expose, Ricki Lee, Cat Power - Some good acts in that list, some I like the odd song by a lot. Helen Shapiro and Roberta Flack in particular are legends, and I like "Black Velvet", "Pearl's A Singer", "For Your Eyes Only" and "You Needed Me".

Diana Vickers is a great TV talent show production, very different, but too early fof me to vote for her just yet. Plus I was let down by her actual material.

Sara Evans is another I bought an album from (off the strength of "Born To Fly") but barely listen to.

Deborah Cox has a fantastic voice and has done some good songs.

The biggest crashout of the entire list if you ask me is Eternal being effectively at No. 500! Back when this site started, they would have been a shoo-in for No. 1!

However, two of my votes fell in that round - and they're both ones that never really made it big, but people should check out.

Stephanie Kirkham was my No. 36. I've bought the album, and it's very pleasant - but the standout track has to be the single "Inappropriate"

The story of my No. 35, Alice Martineau, is a really sad one. She was born with cystic fibrosis, and like many disabilities, it carries with it a significantly decreased average life expectancy. She needed a heart, lung and liver transplant, but sadly the donors didn't come through in time and after an 18 month stay on the waiting list, she passed away. With the knowledge of that story, it makes her biggest single, the gorgeous "If I Fall", all the more poignant. Again, the whole album is good - particularly "Forget What I Said" but it's all overshadowed by the fantastic lead single!

Christina Aguilera is one of the most successful female artists to make it big since the millennium, and to date has sold over 50m records worldwide. She is responsible for some of the most instantly recognisable hooks in music in a long time [Genie In A Bottle, Beautiful, Ain't No Other Man] alongside some of the best vocals of any female artist in that same time frame. She is perhaps nowadays known almost exclusively for her mishaps - her weight/image, her recent Bionic album's performance on the charts, her questionable live vocals [Etta's funeral, the National Anthem debacle]. But none of this should detract from the fact that she is one of the great female singers of the last decade. Will she make it to the top of the charts once more? That remains to be seen. Whether or not she does, she's got a hefty catalog of hit singles, and the admiration of music critics worldwide. Its hard to imagine that she once sparred for music industry dominance with Britney Spears, given how much progression Christina has made [not a knock against Britney whatsoever].

In all, Christina was voted for by an impressive 68 voters. And of these, she ranked inside of 16 top 10's. She was ranked highest by BanZai & JluGlow [both of whom say goodbye to their #1 ranked act]. Its hard to believe that Christina Aguilera actually TOPPED the 2008 countdown of this very same poll - yes she was the #1 ranked UKMix female act of 2008! She then fell to #5 in 2009/2010 countdown, and in the 2011/2012 countdown, the mega-diva falls to #9. Will she fall outside of the top 10 altogether next time round? Aggie's average points score was 32!

I'm beginning to understand why people fawn over her voice - its nice, and very powerful. And I like how elastic and flexible it is - but man, she just uses it so badly. She could be an all-time great singer, IF she used it better.

That being said, she's a great female artist and I pretty much love three quarters of Bionic - didn't deserve to flops so badly!
