Usher has urged people to stop buying Adele's hit album 21, as he doesn't want the singer to break his own record.

The 33-year old currently holds the record for having the best-selling album of the 2000's with his 2004 LP Confessions, with Adele now closing in on his achievement with her sophomore album.

Speaking to Capital FM, Usher has revealed he's keen to hold on to his ten year record, joking that he hopes people will soon stop purchasing Adele's 21.

He told Breakfast Show hosts Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon: "If I have to confess, I have to confess that I have told a few people not to go and buy Adele's album because I don't want her to go and break my record,

"No actually, I love her. Unfortunately, she's the closest to breaking my record for the last ten years. So now guys, don't go and buy that album right now."

In the same interview, Usher also revealed that he's teamed up with UK super-producer Labrinth on a track for his new album.

#Pressed ? We know you're not "joking" to be honest...

"Take A Bow"... Rihanna's ONLY ballad to go #1 on the Hot 100 (also topped the R&B Chart)... Great deed for her most epic ballad!!!

But Adele's "21" wasn't released in the '00s (the decade) so Usher's record is still safe. Unless he means the century in which case someone is bound to break his record at some point in the next 88 years.

PS:Adele's album isn't that good? crap I just received it today:(

Yeah I'm fairly sure they are referring to the century, not the decade.

I think people are buying it because her single choices were excellent. It really isn't that fantastic of an album at all.

She looks so tired on the cover. I'm not interested.

Both albums are dreadful, period.

I agree, but it's a matter of opinion and a matter of "hype", I mean you could ask the same about every good selling album.

At Usher  I don't think anyone can stop 21 to outsell Confession.

Anyway, Confession is not really a good album, too much fillers, many tracks should've been cute.

Actually, comparing both albums, 21 deserved to be bought more than Confessions. Confessions had excellent single choices, other than that, there was so much filler and forgettable songs. Here I Stand and My Way were far better albums by Usher.

21 is a good album. But it's been really overhyped.

I wouldn't say that it's better than most of the albums that it beat out for this "most weeks concurrently at the top of Billboard 200 and the Hot 100" record.

OK heard it a couple of times. It is a good album. Just one song I don't like otherwise everything is great. But I don't like the new by Common which I also bought

Well it's not bad, I just don't consider an album full of MOR radio friendly tracks to be anything great that's all, subjective.

How does Confessions hold the record for best-selling album of the 00s?
Shouldn't it be The Beatles' 1?

Beatles, N'Sync, Norah and Eminem x2 have all sold over 10 million since 2000, Usher's at 9.9x.
