So, let's see...

Helen Reddy, Candy Mafia, Play, Tegan and Sara, Sertab Erener, SISTAR, Noa, Sleep Over, Amanda Palmer, Miss A, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Mahalia Jackson, Charice Pempengo, Oh Land, HyunA, Juice Newton, Anorah - Couldn't sing you anything by any of them. I know Sertab won Eurovision and the girl with the ridiculously long surname was in Neighbours, that's about all!

Cassie, Trina - bleh - not my thing, sorry!

Elkie Brooks, Sheena Easton, Anne Murray, Roberta Flack, Alannah Myles, Emmylou Harris, Kim Carnes, Helen Shapiro, Trisha Yearwood, Expose, Ricki Lee, Cat Power - Some good acts in that list, some I like the odd song by a lot. Helen Shapiro and Roberta Flack in particular are legends, and I like "Black Velvet", "Pearl's A Singer", "For Your Eyes Only" and "You Needed Me".

Diana Vickers is a great TV talent show production, very different, but too early fof me to vote for her just yet. Plus I was let down by her actual material.

Sara Evans is another I bought an album from (off the strength of "Born To Fly") but barely listen to.

Deborah Cox has a fantastic voice and has done some good songs.

The biggest crashout of the entire list if you ask me is Eternal being effectively at No. 500! :o Back when this site started, they would have been a shoo-in for No. 1! :o :o :o

However, two of my votes fell in that round - and they're both ones that never really made it big, but people should check out.

Stephanie Kirkham was my No. 36. I've bought the album, and it's very pleasant - but the standout track has to be the single "Inappropriate"

The story of my No. 35, Alice Martineau, is a really sad one. She was born with cystic fibrosis, and like many disabilities, it carries with it a significantly decreased average life expectancy. She needed a heart, lung and liver transplant, but sadly the donors didn't come through in time and after an 18 month stay on the waiting list, she passed away. With the knowledge of that story, it makes her biggest single, the gorgeous "If I Fall", all the more poignant. Again, the whole album is good - particularly "Forget What I Said" but it's all overshadowed by the fantastic lead single!

Diana Vickers that low?! I did forget to vote her mind.

Whitney is a legend with many great songs but not one I regularly listen to.

Glad that Lady Gaga missed the top 10, i don t hate her but some of her fans are annoying, ofc i m a bit childish but who cares.

Celine Dion : a megastar

Whitney Houston : I wanna dance with somebody is my favorite tune from her, she is indeed the voice, though i m not a huge fan of this type of (powerful) voice.

Alicia Keys in the top 10!!! amazing :P she s the modern queen of rnb imo

Destiny's Child : o-v-e-r-a-t-e-d

Christina Aguillera : i love her fist album and Back To Basics
What if we choose to exist in a reality of our own making, does that render us insane, and if so, isn't that better than a life of despair?

108 ¬ Ellie Goulding ¬ 256 POINTS

I had a way then losing it all on my own
I had a heart then but the queen has been overthrown
And I'm not sleeping now the dark is too hard to beat
And I'm not keeping now the strength I need to push me

You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine It when I'm alone
And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone

Ellie Goulding (born Elena Jane Goulding on 30 December 1986) is an English singer-songwriter. Born in Hereford, she grew up in Kington, Herefordshire and currently lives in London, England. According to Starry Eyed Songfacts, after attending the University of Kent studying drama for a couple of years, Ellie moved to West London for the purpose of developing her songs and music career. Touring since 2008 she released her debut single “Under The Sheets” on 15 November 2009. The track was produced by Starsmith, with whom she has been working since the beginning of her career. On 8 January 2010, Goulding topped the BBC Sound of 2010 music list. Previous winners include the likes of Little Boots, Corinne Bailey Rae and Mika. On 16 February 2010, she won the Critics’ Choice award at the BRIT Awards, which has previously been given to acts such as Adele and Florence + The Machine. Ellie Goulding’s debut album, titled Lights, was released on 1 March 2010 and debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. It was re-released 29 November 2010 as Bright Lights with six new tracks. It has so far produced two additional singles: “Your Song,” a cover of Elton John’s song (which went on to become her biggest single to date in the UK, reaching #2) and the title track “Lights (Single Version).” Following this re-release, the album saw a surge in sales in both the UK and Ireland. On March 8, 2011, the album was released in the United States with alternate cover art and featuring three songs that were previously not on the original version but were included on Bright Lights, those songs being “Lights,” “Animal,” and “Your Song.”

107 ¬ En Vogue ¬ 256 POINTS

What's it gonna be 'cuz I can't pretend
Don't you want to be more than friends
Hold me tight and don't let go
Don't let go
You have the right to lose control
Don't let go

I often tell myself that we could be more than just friends
I know you think that if we move too soon it would all end
I live in misery when you're not around
And I won't be satisfied till we're taking those vows

Assembled in Oakland, California, USA in July 1989, En Vogue launched with original members Cindy Herron, Maxine Jones, Dawn Robinson and Terry Ellis. En Vogue is a Grammy-nominated all-female R&B, club/dance, and soul vocal quartet assembled by the hit music producers Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy, formerly of the disco group Club Nouveau. En Vogue has sold over 28 million albums and singles worldwide. They have won more MTV Video Music Awards than any other female group in MTV history, a total of 7 VMAs. The group was named the second most successful girl group of the 1990s and the 18th most successful act overall of the 1990s according to Billboard magazine. In 2005, after a eight year absence, Dawn Robinson rejoined En Vogue but left again the same year. The original four went on to sign with one of the industry’s largest management firms, The Firm Management Group. That September, they joined Salt-N-Pepa for the girl groups’ first ever joint public performance of their 1994 hit, “Whatta Man” at VH-1’s Hip Hop Honors, and briefly toured. They also earned another Grammy nomination for the single So What the Fuss, which featured Stevie Wonder and Prince. The group also appeared in the single’s music video. After failing to agree on business terms, Robinson once again chose to defect En Vogue and Bennett remained.

Besides that song, I'm not familiar with their work.

Christina Aguilera is one of the most successful female artists to make it big since the millennium, and to date has sold over 50m records worldwide. She is responsible for some of the most instantly recognisable hooks in music in a long time [Genie In A Bottle, Beautiful, Ain't No Other Man] alongside some of the best vocals of any female artist in that same time frame. She is perhaps nowadays known almost exclusively for her mishaps - her weight/image, her recent Bionic album's performance on the charts, her questionable live vocals [Etta's funeral, the National Anthem debacle]. But none of this should detract from the fact that she is one of the great female singers of the last decade. Will she make it to the top of the charts once more? That remains to be seen. Whether or not she does, she's got a hefty catalog of hit singles, and the admiration of music critics worldwide. Its hard to imagine that she once sparred for music industry dominance with Britney Spears, given how much progression Christina has made [not a knock against Britney whatsoever].

In all, Christina was voted for by an impressive 68 voters. And of these, she ranked inside of 16 top 10's. She was ranked highest by BanZai & JluGlow [both of whom say goodbye to their #1 ranked act]. Its hard to believe that Christina Aguilera actually TOPPED the 2008 countdown of this very same poll - yes she was the #1 ranked UKMix female act of 2008! She then fell to #5 in 2009/2010 countdown, and in the 2011/2012 countdown, the mega-diva falls to #9. Will she fall outside of the top 10 altogether next time round? Aggie's average points score was 32!

Christina Maria Aguilera (born December 18, 1980 in Staten Island, New York, United States) is an accomplished pop and rnb singer who debuted in 1998 with the song Reflection for the soundtrack to the Disney film, Mulan. She has since become one of the biggest female recording artists of the last decade, selling over 100 million records worldwide. Her work has earned her numerous awards, including four Grammy Awards and one Latin Grammy Award, amongst eighteen nominations. She has achieved five #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as two #1 albums in the United States. She has released six albums, one of which is a compilation and five of which are studio albums: Christina Aguilera (1999), Mi Reflejo (2000), My Kind Of Christmas (2000), Stripped (2002), Back To Basics (2006), Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade Of Hits (2008) and Bionic (2010). She has earned four Grammy awards including: Best New Artist (2000); Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals (2002); Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (2004) and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (2007). She also won a Latin Grammy in 2001 for Mi Reflejo (Best Female Pop Vocal Album). Aguilera is best known for her vocal ability, music videos, and ever-changing image. She includes themes of dealing with public scrutiny, her painful childhood, and female empowerment in her music. She has also dedicated much of her time as a philanthropist for charities, human rights and world issues. In 2009, she was named the Ambassador Against Hunger for the World Food Programme.

She is way too high....

But whatever. She has a couple of good songs...but she really needs to get it together.

I'm beginning to understand why people fawn over her voice - its nice, and very powerful. And I like how elastic and flexible it is - but man, she just uses it so badly. She could be an all-time great singer, IF she used it better.

That being said, she's a great female artist and I pretty much love three quarters of Bionic - didn't deserve to flops so badly!
