"Bliss" = cute, but it does drag on a bit. that whistle register is always rather impressive though!

"The Wind" = I've discovered that, on UKMix at least, this is a bigger fan favorite that I would've guessed. it's not quite my cup of tea, but I do appreciate her experimenting with her sound a bit.

"Loverboy" = this song gets so much hate, and while I can agree that it's not one of her best lead singles, I still love it! I remember being bummed when I went to pick up Greatest Hits (my first MC album) and this wasn't included on it  (at the time, I didn't think about her label switch). this would probably make my Mariah Top 40. the single version/remix >>>>>> the just-Mariah-and-Cameo version.

"Twister" = eh...pretty, but also pretty forgettable. granted, I'm not a massive Glitter fan, but this is one of my least-listened-to songs from it (along with "All My Life" and "Want You").

"How Much" = not bad, but a pretty underwhelming collaboration considering the two stars involved.

IMO.

Thanks for the comments, guys!

"Bliss" is cute. As is "Loverboy".
"The Wind" is so jazzy. And so sad. But it's, nonetheless, a beautiful song.
I was planning on doing write-ups for the Top 20, but heck, this is for Mariah, so I'll do it for the Top 100. 8-)

I know how much you love that song, but I just...don't like it. Don't hate me, please. :(

Tripolis wrote: Bliss : One of the decent songs from "Rainbow". It's ranked quite appropriately though as I don't really regard this as a gem in Mariah's discography at all. 5/10.

The Wind : One of my favourites from "Emotions" and one of the few tracks I don't skip. It's ranked about 64 places too low. 6.5/10.

Loverboy : Mariah's weakest lead single. BY FAR. This track is cringeworthy and despite it being a fun track, I find it a shame that Mariah even recorded it in the first place. 3/10.

Twister : Filler track from "Glitter", which is a decent album. The duration of this song is also too short. Don't really like this at all. I skipped it on first listen - and that just says how I feel about this song. 2/10.

How Much : Decent track from "Rainbow". Not my favourite but it still gets plays from time to time. Ranked appropriately. 5/10.
Glad to see that we agree on (most of) the rankings! :D

Loverboy.

I like that
I guess it's a "cute" song, but it's so not my MiMi taste.

swiftie13 wrote:Bliss - It's kinda bland, not one of my favourites from Rainbow, which is also not one of my favourites  (Hotmesbow)

The Wind - Can get a bit boring but I really like her vocals in it and the intro!

Loverboy - -_- This song is such a jam! Should be way higher!  Even though I think the remix is horrible, the original is great!

Twister - I like the melody but after a while, the fact that there's no percussion can get overwhelming for me  One of the few I sometimes skip in Glitter.

How Much - Once again, not one of my favourites (featuring Usher right?)

So far good, I guess, more bad than good ones are out.

Emotions - 1
Glitter - 2
Rainbow - 2

I hope to see more Rainbow out..
No Rainbow love, Horacio? :-?

stevyy wrote:I looove Twister.. It so reminds me of 2001. I think it's my trademark 2001 song. When I listen to it, it reminds me of everything 2001, how I felt and what not.

The Wind is epic too. It's real classy.

Bliss and How Much to me are unfinished mixtapes of songs that could have been way better.

Loverboy is a song I still listen to. It makes me feel happy. It's great for summer.
*Dead* at that one!

I think "Bliss" put me to sleep before I could her MiMi in her whistle register. But glad to see that we're pretty much on the same page so far.

If We - I love this song (Paul tisk tisk on the comment along with All MY Life! ) I think in my top Glitter tracks, definitely a grower for me, I used to skip it a lot but now I always listen to it!

Did I Do That? - Rainbow is pretty much forgettable IMO bar some songs, this one is not a stand out, sorry no love for Rainbow.

Say Something - So infectious, and for the longest time I overrpalyed it along with TEOM as a whole so I have many memories, so low!

I Only Wanted - I have never been able to listen to Chambracelet without wanted to go and jump off a building, so I don;t quite remember this song

Sunflowers for Alrfed Roy - WTF had no idea a song wuth such a.. peculiar name existed in her discograpy

I really need to spin and familiarize myself with Charmbracelet more!

If We : Meh. My least favourite track from "Glitter", a good album (along with "Don't Stop"). 1/10

Did I Do That? : My least favourite track from "Rainbow". It's also one of Mariah's weakest songs ever done imo. 0.5/10

Say Somethin' : One of my hate tracks from "The Emancipation Of Mimi". Never understood the love it gets sometimes. 3/10

I Only Wanted : This track is decent, and it isn't a filler like some of the Charmbracelet songs. Ranked appropriately, in my opinion. 4.5/10

Sunflowers For Alfred Roy : The best of the batch. This song is one of my favourites from "Charmbracelet" and is really underrated by many. I'm glad to see it charting even though its position isn't high. I'd have ranked this in the top 100. 6/10

"If We" = supposedly, ripping-off this song was a part of Mottola's Glitter sabotage plan, along with stealing the "Firecracker" sample that was meant for "Loverboy". if all of that went down as reports say, J.Lo has this song (and Mottola) to thank for her "I'm Real (Remix)" smash.

"Did I Do That?" = like Matt said, this one is pretty "crazy"...and it's definitely one of the weakest moments on Rainbow...but I don't hate it. the sassiness and spitefulness in it is pretty fun. she doesn't have too many songs that dig at Mottola as directly and aggressively as this one.

"Say Somethin'" = BOO @ your ranking for this one! it would certainly make my Mariah Top 40 (probably Top 30, actually). a lot of Mariah fans aren't too crazy about this one, but I think it's one of the highlights of TEOM. one very sexy tune.

"I Only Wanted" = yes, it's a "My All" re-hash, but I still think it's a good one! one of my favorite Charmbracelet moments. this would definitely make my Top 40 too.

"Sunflowers For Alfred Roy" = this one is touching, but I was always a bit confused by the "shining like a sunflower" parts. since when does a sunflower "shine"?

"I Only Wanted" is a well written song, but Mariah's vocals are so bleak.

"Breakdown" is an amazing song. It's a shame that it charts this early.

I've only recently heard "Looking In". It's weird to think that Mariah was so unhappy during the recording of Daydream. "Looking In" is Mariah's way of venting out her frustrations, I guess.

I can't listen to "Petals". It's too personal for me to connect to it. The same applies to "Sunflowers For Alfred Roy" and to a lesser extent, "I Wish You Well".

"You Got Me" is a cute track, I suppose.

"All My Life" is my favorite track off Glitter.

Alfred Roy was Mariah's father, he died of cancer in 2001.

and OUCH at your feelings about my Top 40  when I make comments like "I would rank that in my Top XX", I'm going off a list I compiled a couple years ago for the "Ultimate Chart" game on this site. most of the rankings still pretty much match how I feel about those songs today, but the exact order of the list would probably look a little different if I were to redo it now. besides, only 3 songs that you've mentioned so far would make my Top 50, but we're about to lose one more...

"Breakdown" = No. 125 for this is borderline unforgivable, Akini ;) "Breakdown" would undoubtedly make my Top 5, possibly as high as Top 2. this is one of several fantastic R&B mid-tempo's on Butterfly, it's actually a very call tough between this and "The Roof" for the absolute best moment on that epic album. I first bought Butterfly in...2002, I think...so I guess there was something about this that really touched my moody-teenager-side, but I still think it's absolutely brilliant. for what it's worth, this song also taught me the word "nonchalant". also, shame on you for not using the wonderful single art:

Image

"Looking In" = eh, not too crazy about this one. it's not terrible, but it's definitely not one of the standouts on Daydream.

"Petals" = a lot of fans go wild for this one, but I've never felt that strong of a connection to it. I appreciate how personal it is for her, but it just doesn't stack up next to her many more brilliant ballads.

"You Got Me" = yeah...this one's...pretty bad. definitely one of my least favorite Charmbracelet moments. the helium-voice chorus is just kind of...irritating. the raps are too long too.

Breakdown : :o Shocked this is so low! It's easily one of my favourite Mariah tracks ever (in my top 15) and is a standout track from "Butterfly". I'm really sad you ranked it this low. Should have been released as a proper single in the US IMO as I believe it could have probably been a big hit at that time (1997/1998). 9/10

Looking In : Decent... not one of my favourites from "Daydream", though I wouldn't classify this as a filler track either. 4/10

Petals : Now this is another of my favourite tracks from "Rainbow". I'm sad you ranked it this low as it has such an amazing melody. A standout track for me that is every underrated by fans. 8/10

You Got Me : Filler track from Charmbracelet. It is still listenable at times, however. 3/10

All My Life : Decent. One of the better tracks from "Glitter". Gets annoying after sometime though. 4.5/10

Looking In - Well Daydream is not one of the MC albums I'm 100% familiar with either...

Petals - Even though the lyrics are amazing I cannot get into it, or many Rainbow tracks to be honest...

You Got Me - Charmbracelet I have not explored yet...

All My Life .. #bye.... this song is so amazing! Except for the unnecessary 15 seconds in the beginning, then it starts getting amazing! just... so low

:o at all the "Breakdown" love! If you guys are going crazy with that ranking, what will happen when you discover that a certain Mariah classic failed to make the Top 90? :o

Oh, Alfred Roy was her father. It's strange because sometimes I feel Mariah doesn't enunciate her words well as I don't remember hearing the word "father" in that song.

Ooh! There was a Mariah Ultimate Chart? Which song was #1?

I swear I must've heard another song 'cause I found "Breakdown" to be dreadfully boring. As for using the single art, or rather forgetting to, I must admit that I didn't remember that it was a single.

As for the others, I'm glad to see you don't like them much.

Aww, you too? :-? Horacio, I can see we're going to have a lot of disagreements with my rankings.

:D okay, few days off and this is already starting to blow off.

Some really nice tracks up there, some which I thought would chart higher, Breakdown being the most shockingly low track so far. Gotta remind myself of some others because I didn't really listen to her "old" stuff for a while.

Anyway, 135 palces, that's quite a lot Mariah
