First, she is a she, not an it, he, or thing.

Second, whoever said they can see through it are completely oblivious, she had high end hormone therapy since 14 and impeccable work done so you're lying. There are multiple women without hips and thighs. especially white girls so...

Third, most of those girls in these competitions get work done so it's not like they'll be at a disadvantage.

Forth, there is no rule that says you have to be born a woman, you guys are making this up, they disqualified her for being a transgender woman, legally a woman, and they had no right, that is what has caused the uproar.

No discrimination on my time.

Contest is for ones who was born female.
Transgenders are mystery for me. Why do they change their gender? As gays like to say here, everyone born his own way, so you got to accept gays, etc. Then why transgender man (woman?) didn't "accept" that he was born a man? :-?

Born a man, die a man. You can change superficially, but DNA remains the same.

Rules are rules and I am glad they did it. They don't have to accept everything. Those that don't like it can just boycott the pageant. Or start a separate pageant for transgendered persons.
"Take A Bow"... Rihanna's ONLY ballad to go #1 on the Hot 100 (also topped the R&B Chart)... Great deed for her most epic ballad!!!

Kind of unfair when she is legally a woman, if America's next Top Model can do it why not Miss Universe? It doesn't matter if she was born with a penis, she was born as a woman.

Some of you are so close-minded and ignorant, I can't.

Why bring gays up? This has nothing to do with homosexuality, this is to do with a woman that was born in the wrong body. She is straight. Gays really stay on your mind Lehmann, your obsessed.

It's kind of hard on these cases, because clearly she's a woman, a mde up woman, she was created and designed as a woman as time went by, but for some people... they aren't because they cna't give birth naturally, their DNA and chromosome is of that of a male so I see what they meant with this...

It has nothing with being liberal, your words are plain ridiculous and irrelevant to the main topic

What does giving birth have to do with a Beauty pageant??

And there are some women who are born and can't have children, does that make them less of a woman?

The thing is people are just ignorant and don't know what they are talking about. Not saying you jpguy are, but throughout this post people have just been saying ignorant things when they obviously know nothing of it. I have about 20+ transgender friends and it'd be one thing if she had a penis but she doesn't so what's the big deal, she's beautiful and belongs in a beauty pageant, it's Miss Universe if she qualified that means she's done everything right and they just disqualified her on discrimination.

How are you born into the wrong body? How is that possible?

Mentally, babies are gender neutral. And on top of that, babies have no sexual feelings.

Those come later.

Jenna made a conscious (or maybe even subconscious) decision that "I don't want to be a man. I want to be a woman. That's who I am."

And that's fine and all. It's all on him and his parents. His life, his choices.

But it's ridiculous to entertain the notion that people can be born into the wrong body; that men are actually women even though their body clearly says otherwise.

I'm sorry: but this is just crazy talk.

It is normally possible, I dont get what is SO weird about it.
Baby might be mentally neutral, but are not while they grow ... so mentally it may be girl in body of boy. And its nothing about sexuality.

you know what is way more absurd? That some people still follow the religion too much and think you are only as you were born and they see you. When something may happen to you mentally and you want to change it, you want to be happy you are turning into monster.

To me this is a (mentally) girl, who was born (or you want to see - grew up) in boys body. He realized that in young age, went to doctors (its not about "today I woke up and I feel like woman, so let´s make p*ssy down there"), went to hormonal therapy, psychological examination (which takes at least 3 years) ...
If now she is happy, I am fine with that.

Gender =/= Sexuality.
If it's not real then how would you explain Gay FTM or Lesbian MTF??????????

A Gay FTM person which is a straight female would have all the guys they want and live a normal straight life, yet they decided to become a man and still date other guys.

So you don't think they were really born in the wrong body?

There is no proof whatsoever for those stuff (born in the wrong body). In fact if you go around and say you believe you were born in the wrong body and your right body is of the same sex like yours but with different characteristics (ethnicity, age, whatever) they will probably lock you up.

That said, it's anyone's full right to change sex if that makes them feel better and if they fully understand all the consequences of such a major (and physiologically unecessary) operation. They don't hurt anyone so more power to them as far as I am concerned. But it is also the right of the organizers of a beauty contest to ban them from participating

But she already won in Canada and they just aren't letting her do Ms. Universe, it's the same company so why would there be different rules?

all of transgenders say they felt like "they were born in wrong body", even psychologists say that ...

http://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/local-news/north-shore-times/407893/Study-tackles-gender-development

Jaimie Veale says she first realised that she was inside the wrong body when she was just five years old.

...

"I wanted to make my body match my mind," says Jaimie
