Oh dear :(

From Matthew_Dixon

I've not really been about much to make people aware of this but yes, this weekend is going to be the end of UKMIX. It has been a really good time whilst it's lasted - but the simple fact is Lars has never really had the time to keep this place up to date for a number of years, the one person who he tried to get to take over never really did, and really it's just too much work for us to keep running.

As many as six debuts will land in next week's Top 15, with Madonna leading the way, the second of at least three weeks for UMG in the #1 slot. Next week, ending 4/8, Nicki Minaj is expected to debut on top. Lionel Richie continues to astound with remarkable, sustained sales. Also note: a year ago, Adele’s 21 was also in the #3 spot, with 94k in sales. Twelve months later, she’s in the same place, this time with between 110-120k as her remarkable story continues. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:

Adele 21 (XL/Columbia) 110-120k :D
Adele 19 (XL/Columbia) 17-20k

Tell you what, if she dominates in 2012 like she did in 2011 (it's looking pretty certain this is going to happen) the comparisons between '21' and 'Thriller' will get interesting  :o

Total sales, both for the year, and overall, are incredible. In the US, sales should be over 100k this week again, a new single is picking up airplay, awards and mothers day in May. All is looking rosy.

However, in the UK, I don't see anything from stopping it's sales from declining week on week for the forseeable future (although there may be a period of plateau between 10-15k). There is nothing new on the radio, and plays of 'the big 3' singles decline each month. There is no promo, and even the 'free' promo only seems to effect the singles (last weekend Adele tracks were played on 3 mainstream shows, but album sales are down 30% this week from last). Yes there may be an Olympic performance, but that's 4 months away if it happens at all. Yes there may be a Bond song, but that's 7 months away if it happens at all.

Of course, this album has been incredibly successful in the UK, more than any other country, and will shortly be the biggest selling solo album of all time, so I'm well aware that Adele in no way needs to, and maybe doesn't want to do anything more in the UK, but, for someone who has found this album's chart successes so intriguing, I would love for it to get one more semi-prolonged push soon. I'm thinking one last radio single, with maybe one live performance of it. That's not too much is it?

This is a good read.

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-enter ... 00837.html

This is an extract from Adele's new biography, Someone Like Adele.

In 2012, Adele will be back. Her fans hope, and trust, that her voice will be as wondrous as ever. And if she feels any pressure to deliver in future, so far Adele hasn't shown it.

"I don't really care about expectations... I'm not expecting my next record to be as big as this one," [she has said]. In the light perhaps, of what she has learned from her collaborations on [the album] 21, her own creative input will, she has said, be paramount. "I want it to be quite acoustic and piano-led. I want to write it, record it all, produce it all and master it on my own."

Why [did] she think this [was] her time, Adele was asked during an interview for the landmark 300th issue of Q, for which she also appeared on the cover, photographed by Rankin in a deep purple gown.

"Maybe people know I just like music... I think I remind people of themselves," she said.

Media Traffic

It's done! 14 months after its release Adele's '21' breaks through the 20 million border. With the 247.000 copies, which were sold last week, the total sales are at 20,21 million now. So it's the first album
since Norah Jones' 'Come Away With Me' (released in 2002) which reaches such a high level. Alone in the last quarter '21' moved 4,9 million copies and at the end of 2012 it will be surely the biggest album of the year and the second biggest of the 21st century, behind the Beatles' best of compilation '1', which sold nearly 32 million copies so far.

WHEN IT'S 64 WEEKS OLD: Billboard's No. 1 song of 2011, Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," is now one of the five-longest-charting singles in the Hot 100's 53-year history.

At 64 weeks (dropping 33-43), the song joins Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" (the record-holder with 76 weeks), LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live" (69), Jewel's double-sided "You Were Meant for Me"/" Foolish Games" (65) and Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" (also 64).

"Deep" is the only one of those songs to have reached No. 1 on the Hot 100.

So does this mean RITD is the longest running single that has topped the chart? I'm almost confusing myself here!

Btw, if UK mix does shut doors (I hope it's an April Fools joke like NS believes), is there a designated meeting place? Maybe a pub where I can drink a Guinness? I'd love to cross that off my bucket list.

I've heard that the largest radio station in America, Z100, is adding RHI today.
Played at 1:09pm.
http://mediabase.com/whatsong/whatsong. ... 0045070077

ADELE - Rumour Has It: 38.137 (+ 1.562)

I guess they will start without XL! Just have her sing it on the Voice. One time. Fourth number one single. Maybe they are waiting for the middle of April to bag the double again. Lol.

Ps. I hear it sounds amazing on the radio. Of course it does. That song is epic. I have yet to hear it in So Cal.

Come on XL, eye on the prize! This is history happening here! Get out of the f*ing way!

BILLBOARD:
44. Adele, "Rumour Has It" (+6)

Funny, I would think the definition of being obsessed with something is searching for it by name and responding about it in threads of artists you have no real interest in.
