I read your birthday article Tuesday (March 27) on Mariah Carey, in which you mention Celine Dion trailing her as the second-best-selling female album artist in Nielsen SoundScan history.

Incidentally, Ms. Dion celebrates her 44th birthday today (March 30)!

I was hoping, as you did with Carey, you could also issue a special chart attack on Dion, given her strength on Billboard charts during her heyday, especially on Adult Contemporary.

Since they just don't make Hallmark cards that list numerous Billboard chart records, I'm happy to honor another deserving icon here.

Dion has certainly enjoyed her share of Billboard chart honors. Most notably:

In the AC chart's nearly 51-year history, Dion has spent the most time at No. 1 - 87 weeks. No one's even close behind, with Elton John second (49 weeks), followed by Lionel Richie (47) and Phil Collins and Faith Hill (43 each).

Dion has tallied the most AC No. 1s - 11 - by a female artist. When "A New Day Has Come" began its whopping 21-week reign in 2002, she passed Whitney Houston and Olivia Newton-John, each with 10.

Since "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" marked her AC chart debut the week of Oct. 27, 1990, Dion has placed 39 titles on the chart. 21 of those have reached the top 10, with 11 soaring to No. 1. She boasts the most AC entries and most No. 1s among all artists since her arrival more than 21 years ago. Dion and Carey are tied for the most top 10s in that stretch.

Her success spans more than AC. 1998's "My Heart Will Go On" remains the only English-language song by a female artist to hit No. 1 on Latin Songs in the chart's 25-year archives.(Only Pitbull has also accomplished the feat). The song also topped the Billboard Hot 100, Radio Songs, Hot Singles Sales, Pop Songs, AC and Latin Pop Songs.

And, with 51.6 million albums sold in the U.S., dating to the advent of SoundScan data in 1991, Dion is also the best-selling Canadian artist, in terms of U.S. album sales.

Most importantly, Dion is so deserving of birthday wishes considering how much she gives to others. Her charity efforts include having worked with the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for almost 20 years and serving as s Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization.

As for her renowned voice? Dion was recently forced to cancel 10 shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nev. (where she's amid a three-year residency), due to weakness in her right vocal cord.

Her prognosis looks promising, however, with a return to the Colosseum planned for a June 9-Aug. 19 run.

"Celine is doing better," Dion's husband Rene Angelil wrote on Dion's official website on March 11. "She's obviously not singing, but her speaking voice is getting back to normal.

"Dr. Berke at the UCLA Medical Clinic ... expects her to fully recover within 6-8 weeks, which would mean between the middle and end of April.

"So far, everything is going according to plan."

I don't know what is Bleep but yes, it has sold over 1 million copies.

As of July 4, 2010: Celine's My Heart Will Go On has sold 821K digital copies. (FYI, that's a combination of five different tracks or versions of the song, which have sold between 7K and 539K.)

September 4, 2011:
