Mel B needs no introduction. It’s already written in the history books. She not only is part of music history but is also a pop culture icon. She is an artist who has achieved the kind of success most artists can only ever dream of. The statistics speak for themselves… over 80 million album sales, countless No.1 singles & albums around the world – as part of Spice Girls and as a successful solo artist.

EMI Music Australia is extremely proud and excited to announce Mel B is returning back home and ready to join contemporaries such as Katy Perry, Coldplay, David Guetta, Ricki-Lee, Empire Of The Sun and 360 with an exclusive global partnership with the label she originally signed with back in 1994.

Currently recording new material to be released in late 2012, Mel B had this to share about the signing, “I’m overly excited to finally announce this amazing global partnership deal back home with EMI Music. I know I have mentioned doing music in the past but for legal reasons I was not in a position to release any new music. For my fans, I am happy and proud to say my music WILL be heard this year and that is for sure a promise I’m over the moon to say the least. Love me or hate me, scary spice is back, hahahaha!!!”

After Spice Girls recorded their last album ‘Forever’ in 2000, Mel began her solo career in fine style with a massive worldwide hit ‘I Want You Back’ feat. Missy Elliot’ hitting the top spot in the UK and Gold in Australia. Mel went on to sell over half a million albums with Hot (2000) and L.A.State Of Mind (2005) and achieved five Top 20 UK singles. The Spice Girls Greatest Hits peaked at No.1 in Australia in 2007.

Mel’s original and real passion is, and always will be music. She’s making an album that’s going to bookmark another incredible chapter in the career of Mel B.

This is good - I like her.

Although it always makes me laugh just how much these press releases from record companies exaggerate sales for a new signing! 80M albums sold?

The spices shifted 55 million albums alone, but I'm not convinced they sold 25 million singles. Wikipedia has them with 75 million records - throw in a million for her solo career (album and singles), then they must have round it up. Credit where credit is due though - she's released less than 20 singles and 6 albums in her career - not bad at all.

She's teased new music for years - including a tv series that built up to a live performance finale... that then wasn't released as a single :-?

I hope she comes back with something great: her last solo album only sold 1,200 copies so t shouldn't be hard to beat her last era
If you're going to Stan over someone, it might as well be the best: MADONNA - giving you hit after hit for 30 years, so that no one else has to.

Throw in the DVD sales as well. Didn't she also do a fitness DVD? That's got to have gone cardboard somewhere!

Why does she say BACK HOME? (Australia) ...
She's popular there for some reason though.... Good for her, we'll see how her music will do in the UK and hopefully the USA...

I've kind of gone off her a bit after reading this interview/article

http://www.fabulousmag.co.uk/fabmag/_fabulous/celebs/nolfabulous_coverstars/1375087/Fabulous-meets-scary-Spice-Girl-Mel-B.html

She seems to be a bit of a diva and I saw that episode of Celebrity Juice where she turned up late, I assumed it was a joke

Like NoAngels said, she has actually built up quite a profile for herself here in Australia thanks to her TV slots and general media presence (e.g. the face of Jenny Craig Weight Loss). I also think there will be some level of interest in the US and there will always be inherent levels of interest in the UK.

She's looking at basing herself here in Australia permanently.

"Half a million albums"? Really???! Final sales for "Hot" in the UK are around 60k, and her last album sold 1000 copies in its ENTIRE chartrun (yes, you read it well, Khia could never)

This article is pure scientific fiction

I think that she would bring to table exactley what Kelly failed to do... She is bitchy but in same time nice, and is funny also without trying to much(unlike gangsta Kelly... Plus people loved her so...

I wonder if this new album she's been announcing since 2008 will have more impact than Mel C's.
