Put it this way, if people were downloading the song, tv would play the video - albeit censored, I'm sure. By doing no promo she's relying on people buying on the strength of her name, the clip on itunes/Amazon etc. and word of mouth. And as I said earlier on - the song simply isn't strong enough.

This is heavily promoted here in MTV Asia, the video is edited towards the middle and the end parts though!

It's not about "wants to be". It's more "has become".
She doesn't care about hit singles anymore i guess, she would've promoted otherwise

For someone her age and level of stardom (she's already a household name who established herself with so many hits throughout the years), it will be difficult to battle other pop acts in the charts with singles (even if she makes a killer hit song that everyone loves). There's so much competition today, way more than during the days of MTV in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.

the competition is the same...it's just that many acts nowadays are forgotten...just like in 10 years we won't remember half the people we're talking right now...that's just how it goes

In my country they play the video during the daytime. I saw it few hours ago. Just saying. Is it banned in other countries like USA?

They play it here, but our music channels are only on pay-tv/cable, so they are rated M15 or MA15+ most of the day anyway.

Madonna 'Girl Gone Wild' Is a fantastic song. It is perfect for POP
Her voice, the musical arrangement work in complete harmony.
But the label isn't actively promoting the way we would like.
Here in America I don't think there were radio commercials.
The TV commercials are randomly placed, hardly a saturation. Certaintly not like other vetern artist do like Barbra Striesand, she had tons of tv ads running for ner last record.

Well,Madonna manged to get a No 1 Album so I guess her camp isn't complaining.

But I still wish they incorporate a more visible strategy. "Girl Gone Wild' has the potential to be a blockbuster.

Not in the U.K. it won't. Britney is as out of the loop as anyone over here.

After hitting # 111
in the UK last week before it's official single release (due to downloads alone and little airplay), Girl Gone Wild bubbles under the US Hot 100 once more at # 108. This is a positive sign and will $urely give Madonna another dance hit on the clubs proceeding GMAYL. Some more countries see GGW appreciate a bit on the charts which could have been caused by MDNA's global success. more at http://mymonumentalicons.blogspot.com/2 ... chart.html

Plus, the song doesn't need her. I don't think she could add anything to a song other than her name. I'm sure everyone remembers S&M being made even worse by her.

Obviously it became worse for some, but Rihanna obviously "needed" Britney's help to boost the song before it burned, and it's not like Britney needed Rihanna's shine for relevance unlike other artists who remix their singles by featuring other artists and still fail to chart.

I heard this for the first time on the radio today! Sounded sooo good! The song itself is nice but I got bored from it quick. But it's still the baby Get Together in Madonna's discography for me.

I've still yet to hear a vocal performance from any commercial recording artist that's as appalling as Britney's in "S&M".

For me, GGW is a much better song than Dance Again, yet thanks to radio it's flopping. And the video isn't helping it much.
