well the music industry is a very superficial industry that cares about looks. But personally I love that everyone loves this for the song and instead of because of Gotye's looks. He's neither hot nor ugly, he's just average. And more power to him for cracking the charts when people want their male stars to be sex symbols.

TBH I don't think he really cares that much about his looks...it's all about the music. I suppose his long-time girlfriend (who's also a musician) doesn't mind them.

I think a lot of factors just managed to work together well. But the fact that this sounds like a song Sting never written adds a bit of fun.

Whole bunch of covers of this song, including the Glee version + the Chipmunks one I mentioned. (The Glee version isn't that great IMO, but hopefully it'll help boost the US sales.)

curiously checked a snippet of the Glee version on itunes and as expected they added nothing, I seriously don't understand why people would buy a "karaoke" version

This song is fireballs.

I love it. Have been looking for the thread in Chart Analysis all this time.

Thanks to Glee, AI and the Voice, the song has gotten the exposure it needed.

I really hope this goes number one. I'm fed up of WAY.

And yes, Kimbra does sound alot like Katy Perry.
