Monica... why?

"It All Belongs To Me" is by far my favourite R&B song of the year, and I was so excited for this album. But this is the biggest dissapoint this year! For an album called "New Life" there is absolutely nothing 'new' in this album and there is no 'life' in this album.

It's just ballads from her previous albums re-hashed into a new album.

I'm so happy we got "It All Belongs To Me" from this album, but everything else is just bland.

I'm sad people are disappointed so far. Not as good as "Still Standing" then?

I was hoping my pre-order from HMV would arrive today, they ALWAYS arrive on the Saturday... apart from today of course. Gonna have to wait until Tuesday to listen now!

I think it's as good as Still Standing. It's just feels as if Monica has "been there, done that" with some of these songs and it has way to many ballads.

I think A reordering of the tracklisting would help this album

I would leave Big Mistake off...its a typical ballad that could easily be placed on "The Makings Of Me". I don't think this album deserves the criticism its getting on here. Without you is AMAZING and could possibly become my favorite Monica song ever!!! It probably my favorite Monica album (or it will be tied with Still Standing since this is still new). I just think when Monica called it New Life (Which is a bland title imo) people were expecting her to do something just off the wall different. She did say in a interview that this is a continuation of Still Standing. I'm glad she stuck to her core R&B. I don't believe people need to always change from album to album.

I reckon this is my most played album this year so far.. listened to each track at least 10 times. Without you is my most played song - one of my all time favorite Monica song. It lacks a few uptempo songs but I still love it.

Oh has anyone noticed that annoying mumbling talk on Anything (to find you)?? I cant listen to it anymore without being annoyed by it! Goes on throughout the song in the background eughhh

Thought it was just my headphones.. but its very clear on the instrumental, well to me anyway :lol:

It's a good album, albeit a bit samey in comparison to 'Still Standing', but her vocals are nice, it's well produced and it's consistent. Monica has never disappointed me with her efforts.

I prefer Still Standing, but it has some good cuts. I really like "Take A Chance" and especially LOVE "Anything (To Find You)" but the version with Lil' Kim. I really think Monica should have given her a verse on another song... I prefer Jazmine Sullivan's version of "Cry".

"Without You" is the best track by far on the album! Actually the 3 tracks Without You, Until It's Gone and Amazing are the 3 best!

They are - but I smell a rat with her vocals after the key change. It sounds like they just sped up the vocals so it sounds like it's a higher key. It sounds a bit chipmunkish :lol:

My friend worked at iTunes... surprisingly it doesn't actually cost. It's up to the staff to place items where they want! The banners may cost but I'm not too sure.

This album actually has some very good material!

It just lacks a bit of tempo switching as it gets ballady and boring in periods, which makes the material come across worse than it is, because it's a bit samey. I have chosen to make my own tracklist as this album contains some very good material!

Though it might be lovely all the way from start to finish, if you truly love ballady R&B! :wink:

Daddy's Good Girl is the album-only track i have played most so far, but i think Without You should be the next single, because it might appeal to many of the ones, who would possibly buy this album, and loved the Still Standing singles and/or album :wink:

After that i think they should release Daddy's Good Girl, and if she's lucky to get to release more singles than that, i think good choices would be Take A Chance and Man Who Has Everything :wink:

I actually like this album, not as much as Still Standing, but New Life def has its stand out moments! I like Daddy's good Girl but Rico Love is starting to urk me by reusing motivation! My favorites and the ones that standout the most are:

Man Who has everything
Take a Chance
WITHOUT YOU (this better be a future single)

I wish In 3D was on the standard because from the snippet it has great potential! The other songs are ok but they get tiresome after a few listens.

Until its gone
Anything to find you

After a week listening, I have decided this is not a patch on Still Standing.

It All Belongs To Me
Daddy's Good Girl
Big Mistake
Without You
Until It's Gone

^Above are the only songs I actually enjoy, the rest I have to put myself through for the sake of listening to the whole album. There is nothing (except maybe Until It's Gone) which is of the standard of Everything To Me, Here I Am or Still Standing.

Even her vocals aren't that good, there are much better vocal moments on Still Standing. She wails too much here. Safe to say, I am very disappointed. I am just hoping that the rest of the album can grow on me.

Heard the snippets for the first time. My analysis:

Shes remained true to her sound. I like the material. Very chilled and laid back but I also expected something edgier from her ala Mirror from her past album. I want to hear her express more anger in her music. You know, like getting shit off her chest!!!

It didn't leak before it was released in Germany on Friday. Released in the US today!

Just bought it.

Alittle disappointed. Love her voice. Just alot of slow ballads. Nothing really sticks outs. For the most part is was a snooze fest.

She should have done more songs like 'Stay or Go' off still standing.
