OURS. It slayed me the first time I heard it when the album came out. Her cutest song ever. This is memorable to me because it was released the time when I started following taylor's career like crazy. I mean I used to follow her career but not like now where I make myself updated with her song's airplay and sales performances everyday and I started joining forums for her. And I'm glad that I got to participate on getting this song to #1. (requested like crazy on country radios!!) :D :D

Finally the top 15
#15
Song- Mine
Album- Speak Now
Songwriter- Taylor Swift
Mine is a song about how Taylor is constantly running away from love and finally getting into a relationship where that doesn't happen. Its pop-country at its best and the music video is one of the best she's ever done :D
"You were in college working part time waiting tables
Left a small town, never looked back
I was a flight risk with a fear of falling
Wondering why we bother with love if it never lasts

I say can you believe it?
As we're lying on the couch
The moment I could see it
Yes, yes, I can see it now

Do you remember we were sitting there by the water?
You put your arm around me for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine

Flash forward and we're taking on the world together
And there's a drawer of my things at your place
You learn my secrets and you figure out why I'm guarded
You say we'll never make my parents' mistakes

But we got bills to pay
We got nothing figured out
When it was hard to take
Yes, yes, this is what I thought about

Do you remember we were sitting there by the water?
You put your arm around me for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine

Do you remember all the city lights on the water?
You saw me start to believe for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine

And I remember that fight, 2:30 a.m.
As everything was slipping right out of our hands
I ran out crying and you followed me out into the street

Braced myself for the goodbye
'Cause that's all I've ever known
Then you took me by surprise
You said I'll never leave you alone

You said I remember how we felt sitting by the water
And every time I look at you, it's like the first time
I fell in love with a careless man's careful daughter
She is the best thing that's ever been mine

Hold on, make it last
Hold on, never turn back
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine

Do you believe it?
We're gonna make it now
I can see it
I can see it now"

Mine is amazing, one of my faves, I think it is her best lead single! So under appreciated

"Mine" at #15...only? :o That song is so relatable and the chorus is so catchy. It's the best love story Taylor's ever painted, in my opinion, as it's very realistic. It was actually my #2 T-Swift song when I did my Taylor tribute, second only to "Enchanted". If "Enchanted" misses the Top 10, I might have to cut you.

#14 don't shoot me
Song- Love Story
Album-Fearless
Songwriter- Taylor Swift
Love Story is a country-pop song and one of her best singles ever released :D . I especially love the intro to the song and the musical production is pure perfection. This was the song that told me Taylor was here to stay in music other songs told me she was talented but this at the time took her up to a whole higher level for me 8-) and it is still one of my favorites today :)
"We were both young when I first saw you
I close my eyes
And the flashback starts
I'm standing there
On a balcony in summer air

See the lights
See the party, the ball gowns
I see you make your way through the crowd
And say hello, little did I know

That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you please don't go, and I said

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story baby just say yes

So I sneak out to the garden to see you
We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little while

'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
But you were everything to me
I was begging you please don't go and I said

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story baby just say yes

Romeo save me, they try to tell me how to feel
This love is difficult, but it's real
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess
It's a love story baby just say yes
Oh oh

I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around
My faith in you is fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said

Romeo save me I've been feeling so alone
I keep waiting for you but you never come
Is this in my head? I don't know what to think
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring

And said, marry me Juliet
You'll never have to be alone
I love you and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress
It's a love story baby just say yes

Oh, oh, oh, oh
'Cause we were both young when I first saw you"

"Love Story" is a great track, arguably Taylor's signature tune. Quite frankly, I think it's a bit ludicrous to rank it above "Mine" but that verse, "Romeo, save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel, this love is difficult but it's real, don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess, it's a love story, baby, just say 'yes'" is just incredible. Beautifully written track. :)

Song-Teardrops on my guitar
Album- Taylor Swift
Songwriters- Taylor Swift and Liz Rose
Teardrops is the song that introduced me to Taylor Swift. I just loved the lyrics to the song and could really feel the emotion in her singing. This song has a very acoustic sound to it and is one of the few songs of her that gives me chills while listening to it. The song is just magnificent and this is one of the best songs on her debut :)
"Drew looks at me
I fake a smile so he won't see
What I want and I need
And everything that we should be

I'll bet she's beautiful
That girl he talks about
And she's got everything
That I have to live without

Drew talks to me
I laugh 'cause it's just so funny
I can't even see
Anyone when he's with me

He says he's so in love
He's finally got it right
I wonder if he knows
He's all I think about at night

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing
Don't know why I do

Drew walks by me
Can he tell that I can't breathe?
And there he goes, so perfectly
The kind of flawless I wish I could be

She better hold him tight
Give him all her love
Look in those beautiful eyes
And know she's lucky 'cause

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing
Don't know why I do

So I drive home alone
As I turn out the light
I'll put his picture down
And maybe get some sleep tonight

'Cuz he's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only one who's got enough of me to break my heart
He's the song in the car I keep singing
Don't know why I do

He's the time taken up but there's never enough
And he's all that I need to fall into
Drew looks at me
I fake a smile so he won't see"

"Teardrops On My Guitar" is a great song. It was actually the very first T-Swift song I ever heard so it'll definitely hold a special place in my heart just for that. I think the lyrics are extremely relatable, especially for teenagers and the music video's nice too.

I still think #13 is a bit of a generous ranking for it, but I'm still excited to see what else you have in store. :)

Song-Cold As You
Album- Taylor Swift
Songwriters- Taylor Swift and Liz Rose
This song is one of her best lyrical works right up there with Back to December, Dear John, and a couple others. This song is a great ballad and I'd classify it as a country-rock song. Lines like "You have a way of coming easily to me
And when you take, you take the very best of me
So I start a fight 'cause I need to feel somethin'
And you do what you want 'cause I'm not what you wanted"
speak more about this song than I could ever explain in words its just really well-written and it just gives me chills everytime I hear it. :)

"You have a way of coming easily to me
And when you take, you take the very best of me
So I start a fight 'cause I need to feel somethin'
And you do what you want 'cause I'm not what you wanted

Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Just walk away
No use defending words that you will never say

And now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

You put up walls and paint them all a shade of gray
And I stood there lovin' you and washed them all away
And you come away with a great little story
Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you

Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending given to a perfect day
Just walk away
No use defending words that you will never say

And now that I'm sittin' here thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you

You never did give a damn thing, honey
But I cried, cried for you
And I know you wouldn't have told nobody
If I died, died for you, died for you

Oh, what a shame
What a rainy ending give to a perfect day
Every smile you fake is so condescending
Counted all the scars you made

Now that I'm sittin her thinkin' it through
I've never been anywhere cold as you"

As for "Cold as You", I'm pleasantly surprised to see that it made it so high. The lyrics are really touching. I especially like the line, "And you do what you want 'cause I'm not what you wanted."

Wow, 2 worldwide hit outside your Top 10, but I admit Love Story is just good, and I'm bored everyone just sings Love Story when they remember Taylor

And glad to see 2 consecutive dramatic songs, TOMG and CAY
Their lyrics are totally painful

Song- Tell Me WHy
Album- Fearless
Songwriters- Taylor Swift and Liz Rose
Tell Me Why is an upbeat country-pop song that just makes you want to dance. I especially love the fiddle in the song and the guitar as well. This song is just so catchy and entertaining to listen to it is definitely one of my favorites :D
I took a chance, I took a shot
And you might think I'm bulletproof but I'm not
You took a swing, I took it hard
And down here from the ground, I see who you are

I'm sick and tired of your attitude
I'm feeling like I don't know you
You tell me that you love me then you cut me down

And I need you like a heartbeat
But you know you got a mean streak
Makes me run for cover when you're around

And here's to you and your temper
Yes, I remember what you said last night
And I know that you see what you're doing to me
Tell me, why?

You could write a book on how
To ruin someone's perfect day
Well, I get so confused and frustrated
Forget what I'm trying to say, oh

I'm sick and tired of your reasons
I got no one to believe in
You tell me that you want me, then push me around

And I need you like a heartbeat
But you know you got a mean streak
Makes me run for cover when you're around

Here's to you and your temper
Yes, I remember what you said last night
And I know that you see what you're doing to me
Tell me, why?

Why do you have to make me feel small
So you can feel whole inside?
Why do you have to put down my dreams
So you're the only thing on my mind?

I'm sick and tired of your attitude
I'm feeling like I don't know you
You tell me that you want me then cut me down

I'm sick and tired of your reasons
I've got no one to believe in
You ask me for my love then you push me around

Here's to you and your temper
Yes, I remember what you said last night
And I know that you see what you're doing to me
Tell me, why? Why? Tell me, why?

I take a step back, let you go
I told you I'm not bulletproof
Now you know
