Well I haven't read it but people have been telling me the book is better. I pretty much always enjoy the book more than the movie (except for LOTR).

Completely agreed (but not for last year). Same with Greece (but not with the song which won for us), F.Y.R. Macedonia and Turkey. Israel should have won quite a few more times too.

@Play: That's what privacy settings are for.

But I doubt I'd ever add my kids. That would be hypocritical since I'd never want my parents as FB friends.

My Boss would have the strictest security settings so he/she couldn't see me bitching about work or what I did in High School/Uni.

20 years considering internet's life is TOO MUCH. By then this whole timeline discussion will be pointless.

It really depends on what you are looking for and what you thought of the book.

I m tired of the stereotype that old stuffs are always superior to new ones.

examples : these are just exmaples !!
-Dark Side Of The Moon, IV, Nevermind >>>> X & Y or any modern rock album.
-Come On Over >>>> any modern country album
-Madonna, Barbara Streisand, Diana Ross >>>>any modern diva
...because these albums/artists were "best sellers" ? c'mon what about Piracy ?! and the worst is that some think that the crappiest old album/artist is still superior to new acts nowadays  i dont get it ! really.

and the most annoying thing is that when it comes to films, these same people used the inflation excuse even though they were completly blind about piracy.

They said that Gone With The Wind, Citizen Kane etc are far better/bigger than Avatar, Harry Potter ll ever be despite their grosses(i hate Avatar btw)

Don t get me wrong, i like these "classics" but people (especially my parents  )should be more impartial and consider all the factors before judging.

That's really an unpopular opinion, although everyone knows it is true.

We don't have to get well with everybody. In fact, we need a few ''enemies'' to make life more interesting.

We also need dumb people (whom we have too many actually    ).

Well that isn't hard. X&Y is Coldplay's weakest album . Now if we were talking A Rush Of Blood To The Head or Viva La Vida you might be onto something

You need to factor inflation in. Because of ticket prices a bomb today grosses more than a blockbuster back then. In terms of ticket sales, GWTW still trumps everything.

Avatar was a movie that was all about hype and special effects. I don't think in 10-15 years it will be held in any higher esteem than Armageddon or Independence Day are now. Citizen Kane IMO is quite overrated but it arguably changed the way movies are made, and tells a story that is still captivating despite the fact it was released over seventy years ago. I have seen bits and pieces of Avatar and didn't care for it at all, it was basically a retelling of Dances With Wolves with blue CGI people.

Sometimes I think that Coldplay rips off others. I always hear familiar tunes on their albums.

you're not alone. I remember from when they first hit, a lot of critics dismissed Coldplay as what Radiohead would've been if they took the safe mainstream route. I've heard people call them Radiohead-lite from the start, even though I think they are so vastly different that I can't really see the comparison myself. I can kinda see the U2 comparisons they get though.

true but piracy also affects music nowadays and we all need to consider that before judging . Agreed about GWTW & CK but there were crap films as well during the 60s 70s 80s like Doctor Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia and more IMO...some people act like everything was great and perfect during their era and it s annoying.

lol at "blue CGI people"

Jessie J is one of the world's best technical vocalists.

She is good - as good as Beyonce, not quite as good as Christina IMO. She just needs to nail that control.

I have really warmed to her as a person though, since The Voice.

You see I agree with you on Beyonce however I think it's Christina who needs to nail the control. That's one area where I think Jessie and Beyonce totally outshine her.

Oh, I was speaking of technical ability - Christina being a better technical singer than Beyonce & Jessie.

Talking about control, Christina is one of the worst singers I ever did hear.

lol!

I still disagree to an extent. I think Christina used to be an amazing technical vocalist I mean she could do all the tricks so effortlessly, just listen to What a Girl Wants it is a vocal masterclass.

However, in recent times it seems to me, she has gotten lazy. She has great power and range and that's all she relies on these days. It seems largely performance of Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, or ha ha then a low and a squeak. It's like she got less versatile. I hope this makes sense.

All the Titanic stuff lately drives home an opinion I've always had:

Kate Winslet should be the one commanding $20 million per movie and starring in blockbuster after blockbuster more than Leo.

It's true, she used to be a very great vocalist with great control when she was younger but right now, although she's still one of the best vocalists out there, she really needs to improve her vocal control, sometime she oversings, or screams or does some too powerful belting notes. I'm sure she can do it and will be better. At least she ALWAYS sings live so we can give her some great advices to make her better.

SHAME, great shame on the Academy for not having awarded Leonardo yet!

Kate deserved her award of course.

I think there shouldnt be any competition betweed Leo and Kate. they both are great actors. I hate it when ppl compare their performances in Titanic, I feel its just so wrong on so many levels.
Leonardo should have gotten his well deserved Oscar by now a thousand times. ppl are so stupid if they cant feel this guy is pure raw talent to his core and he does it all so effertlessly and genuinely as if it was one of the easiest and most natural things on earth (probably bcos for him it is). I feel sorry for those ppl, they dont know what they are missing out on. though I believe its bcos he still cant fully get out of the 'hollywood heartthrob' box. of course there are some critics who cant think outside the box either, and he can do what-the-f*ck-ever he wants, some still wont give him the recognition he deserves.
while some mediocore actors like Meryl Streep (who is winning Oscar after Oscar as if she was so great that she isnt even half as great), or Anthony Hopkins (who is so dull and his acting lacks credibility most of the time and lacks any kind of versatility at all) are praised to death just bcos unlike someone like Leonardo, they havent ever been known for their sex appeal.
