POC could be a successfull single, but it won't affect on album sales IMO. Can't see Riri fans buying Mylo Xyloto tbh.

Nackar wrote:But yeah, the drops in the US are disappointing. It's quite funny to see how, this era, the UK seems to be the most supportive of the two whereas during VLV the US was more supportive. Although considering the album is now slightly above 1 million in both nations and the UK has a fifth of the inhabitants... doing those little calculations always remind me how much healthier the UK market is
I'm really surprised that USA doesn't support them this era. Few discounts(including $0.25 deal), Grammys performance, Good Morning America...damn, I don't get it.
As I said before, I only want them to sell another 500k in UK and US 500k in other countries(5.5mln this year and 6mln mark next year). Tour starts pretty soon, so there's still a for stable sales(especially in US)
I think a very / moderate succesful single = postive album sales
and not all rihanna song buyers are all real rihanna fans (casual) most rihanna song buyers buy her songs only not much in her albums as ive noticed... so expect atleast a surge in sales if poc is succesful

Yes the UK market is healthier but don't forget that the UK chart run is also better  .
If Mylo Xyloto had the UK run in the US, the US sales would be at ~ 2 mio., which is still comparatively low but of course a better result  .

^^^ Well, no one's chart run is going to be the same everywhere!

For what it's worth, Coldplay shows how big they are that with NO big hit yet ("Paradise" is moderate at best WW considering sales AND airplay) and yet they have sold 5 million albums and, likely, will sell above 6 million in the end.

The album isn't going to just drop off the charts and I suspect at least 2 more singles will do the trick (PoC and whatever else) and, hopefully, they'll take FULL advantage of the 3rd and 4th quarters before anything stops.

OT: Features do not push, at large, fans of one fanbase to purchase the album of another... only the single, if they like it. With that said, we shouldn't expect results to come from that. PoC, on its own, once finally promoted can push casual buyers to purchase the album though.
"Take A Bow"... Rihanna's ONLY ballad to go #1 on the Hot 100 (also topped the R&B Chart)... Great deed for her most epic ballad!!!

I agree with your post, Danbarj, but wouldn't you call Paradise a big hit?
It stayed more than half a year on many Singles Charts, including the US, Australia, Germany and the UK and reached top-ten-positions in many countries. Plus, it's been a successful airplay-hit in Europe.

Of course it wasn't the Party Rock Anthem/Rolling In The Deep-meaning of big, but seriously, not every single has to reach their level to be called big... It should be measured by an artist's standards and I'd say it stands at No. 2 just behind Viva La Vida, don't you agree?

Paradise served its purpose.. it brought the album to over 1m scanned copies in both the US and UK.

I would want Hurts like Heaven to be the next single. It was one of my instant faves.

Overall sales of Mylo stand at 5 million and that's a great result once again, regarding what the competition is selling.

Worldwide + considering sales AND airplay. It was big in some countries, lingered in others. US, a big market with a fifth + of their album's sales was not a market in which the single had great or even moderate airplay. Still, a great song that should have done so much better.

And, that is an even greater testament to their 1 million + in the US and ~5 million WW.

Also, in there it says MX is 2X Platinum in Canada. Not sure how valid that is, as on the Canadian website for certifications MX is not listed.

Mylo Xyloto is certified 2xP in Ireland

Considering its chart-run, 2xP is great :D

The video isn't out yet as you might have noticed, but they showed some scenes of it at their concert in Edmonton.
