Not really, even when the song was slaying worldwide I had a feeling top 20 would be more than excellent for Gotye's song. I am glad it hit #1 but I figured it'd be a great little song that has an audience, but in no way could compete with LMFAO and Kelly Clarkson on the hot 100, same with Fun's song.Timmy94 wrote:Why was Gotye's No. 1 unexpected? Heard this for the first time properly today - though I'm sure I've heard it before, the chorus is very familiar - and I really like it. It's bizarre how it completely changes tempo though, you can barely tell it's the same song from when the chorus kicks in.
