From Music Week

ALBUMS: For the second week in a row, Adele's 21 comes from behind to top the album chart. Trailing on midweek sales flashes to Alabama Shakes' Boys & Girls a fortnight ago, and Jason Mraz's Love Is A Four Letter Word last week, the album registers its 23rd week at number one, on sales of just 17,065 copies - the second lowest of its 65 week chart career, and the lowest for a number one album since The Levellers' Zeitgeist climbed 2-1 on sales of 13,885 on 16 September 1995 - 867 weeks ago.

With the olympics coming up in the summer I'm sure she will be involved somehow, plus James Bond theme coming at the end of the year will give it another boost

Why? No matter if a No.-1-album sells 500k, 80k or like in this case 17k, being lower than No. 50 always means the same: That 50 (or more) albums sold more in that particular week.

He was likely referring to sales, i.e. that they must be very low at that point, in a joking manner.

she can do another 500k in 34 weeks
Not unless there is something that gives sales another boost. There is little on the horizon that will boost UK sales.
500k in 18 weeks and i see no reason why she cant sell another 500k in 34 weeks
Weekly sales this year are:
35,835 – 38,380(2012) - 23,831 – 20,978 - 19,394 – ~15,700 – 17,544 - 47,498 - 65,091 - 41,030 - 32,526 - 47,668 – 22,820 - 16,269 – 28,156 - 22,235 - 17,065

The Brits, Mothers Day and Christmas onlycome around once a year and without those boosts the sales have tended to drift downwards. She will need an average of 14708 sales a week and I don't see that being met without some additional publicity. The obvious suggestion would be another single but it seems unlikely at this point.

She's already getting a little publicity from the Billboard award noms - mentioned on radio stations today.

There's potential (and I do mean potential as these things aren't guaranteed to happen) publicity from an Olympics performance, Bond theme etc.

I don't think another 500k this year is unlikely by any means.

Also sometime this year the album will be reduced and that will bring in some more sales.
