Good and stable sales, but I'm not satisfied tbh.
Anyway, if Billboard confirms those sales, she'll hit 3mln mark this year :)

Great stability in the US! :D I remember HDD released a small article claiming that they expected 21's 2012 sales to hit three million by Memorial Day (28 May)... Adele exceeding expectations heavily once again!

So on the BB calendar 21 has now sold 4.4 million? Is that right? No way is anybody catching her for back to back BB album of the year! So cool. When did that happen last?

XL/Columbia’s Grammy-winning phenom Adele is #1 for the 22nd time in a little more than a year since the album’s release, chalking up another 292k to bring her remarkable total over 7.6 million, 1.8 million of them since Jan. 1. Our crack retail staff predicts the album will go over the 3 million mark for the year by Memorial Day. Her debut album, 19, is now at #7.

Memorial Day in the US May 28
That means another 1.2 million = 8.8 million in total in May! :o Considering she always exceeds predictions, 9 million is reasonable.
So it's not a question of if, it's a question of when it hits diamond this year. Someone said by August. After the Olympics (if she performs) this will be about right! I was hoping by 12.31.12 but she's going to get there much sooner.
Yep, here's a few quotes ^^^^^^^ from when that prediction was made by HDD (29 Feb). I'd say a lot more than 3.2 million by memorial day, with Mother's day and Billboard awards. Also, Diamond potential by end of July.

Hi all,

She'll be in very select company!

"It would mark the first time that an album has ranked #1 on Billboard's "year-end" charts twice since Michael Jackson's Thriller was on top for both 1983 and 1984. Three other albums achieved this feat in the late '50s and early '60s: the My Fair Lady original cast album (1957 and 1958), The Sound Of Music original cast album (1960 and 1961) and the West Side Story soundtrack (1962 and 1963)".

Half a year ago, this just seemed ridiculous to compare 21 with Thriller but now, it's obvious to put both on the same level even seen from a neutral point.
The singles of both albums have been simply EVERYWHERE and impossible to ignore, they are none from young kids to old grannies (=cultural impact), both were critically hailed and received every possible award and broke dozens of selling records all around the world.

From HDD.

XL/Columbia Grammy-sweeping diva Adele’s 21 is down just 3% on sales of 88k, bringing her remarkable cume to 8.8 million, on target for 10 million by mid-summer.

Where are Confessions and 21 now in the quest for (sold) diamond status?

Yes, I would agree that in terms of success, acclaim, and ubiquity, 21 is this generation's Thriller. The main noticeable difference, however, is that the music videos from Thriller made such a huge impact and were key in the album's success, whereas 21 hasn't relied on videos at all TBH except for RITD. I suppose in some ways that's a further testament to Adele's success - the fact that she doesn't need videos to smash this hard - but it's also probably the biggest missed opportunity for her. Oh please release a video for RHI!

Oh please I stan for Adele but Thriller didnt depend on its music videos to sell, Thriller has 7 top 10's which were very successful on the hot 100, to me Thriller had it all good music videos , amazing songs, AMAZING sales, longevity, etc

Thriller meant a whole lot more than just the music or the singles, but also the revolutionary videos and oh god the DANCING. But this isn't a discussion for the here or the now and it will just lead to some pissed of MJ fans and some Adele fans in here again believing the whole world is out to get them.

She's been breaking records left and right and doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon, which is just amazing! It somehow breaks my heart to see her below 100k again, hehe, but it was bound to happen sooner or later.
