Yes been liking this for a few weeks now, quite different to "Up All Night" from a few years back which I also really liked! #24 on iTunes now, could grow into a proper hit.

Surprised there was no topic for this already - I loved this first time around too. Glad that it's becoming a hit off the back of the advert.

I find his vocals unusual to the type of music that he makes, which makes it an interesting combination!

I've downloaded illegally his album to check if it is as good as this single. If it is, I will purchase the album.

Correction: it was his single Up All Night http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.p ... alex+clare

Well it does have guitars all over it! :D

Now someone else has put him in Pop. His music is dance-based, how can people not see that?? He's not James effing Morrison!

I put it in Pop as his album has been listed as Pop by his label on iTunes, Amazon, HMV Digital etc. Even his web site biography states:

"What Alex came back with is an album that’s in touch with his beloved soul and jazz as well as opening itself up to funk and jungle and punk rock and dubstep."
His music is influenced by a variety of different genres, hence why I put it in Pop.

"Too Close" is currently #8 and #86 on iTunes.

Why is this so important? It could easily go in Pop, Dance or Rock/Alternative.

Personally I would have put his stuff in dance, so I agree with you, but I don't see why there is such a big fuss in virtually every topic about what forum the topic should go in. It's not as if someone posted Kylie in Rock....

Great to see the song climb into the top 10. Shame it didn't get recognition before it was used in an advert, but better late than never!

If it's influenced by a variety of genres, Alternative would be more fitting. ALL of the singles are dance-based. It's not pop music! This is the same argument people gave for Santigold who eventually got moved to Alternative because no-one knew where to put her.

I feel strongly because i love pop music and this guy does not make pop. I don't care what the iTunes description says. This is too hard-edged, too difficult, too mixed up to be in Pop. None of his singles would be eligible for the UKMix Pop Chart.

And i make a fuss because there are too many acts about who don't play fair with their genres!
It's not "virtually every topic" at all. I like things to look right and i'm not going to stop. Sorry.

Amazing to see what an advert can do for a song like this! #6 on iTunes is brilliant.
I, like most people, only discovered this recently and it's a great song.
