As far as I know download songs won't have to be registered any more to be allowed to chart. But I don't know any details and I'm pretty sure the new rules won't be perfect either.vdoerken wrote:Does anybody (here) already know what these changes are?jszmiles wrote:I'm so glad!AshDeluxe wrote:There will be new rules for the chart in a few weeks. Euro 2012 will be the third major football tournament that Embassy of Music (formerly called Ministry of Sound Deutschland) has provided the official anthem. The first was the 2006 World Cup in Germany where Bob Sinclar's "Love Generation" featuring Gary Pine was chosen by commissioning body FIFA. For Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland, Embassy of Music successfully pitched Shaggy's "Feel The Rush." Both songs enjoyed substantial spikes in sales as a result, says von Loehneyson, with Sinclair's "Love Generation" hitting No. 1 in Germany and becoming the country's biggest-selling single of 2006, moving approximately 800,000 units, according to Embassy of Music. "Feel The Rush" also topped the charts in Germany and Euro 2008 host country Austria.

I wondered about that - the CD single was released on Friday 4th March 2011 in Germany, but this is indeed its first appearance in the top 100!!!maroon wrote:Example's Kickstarts a new entry only now?![]()

That's because one of the participants of DSDS (German version of American Idol) performed it...CZB wrote:Also, why has "Beautiful People" re-entered so high this week (also in Austria and Switzerland, as well as Germany) ?
Like I said, I don't know yet. We'll see it in a few weeks.Timmy94 wrote:Does this change mean that singles will need to be digitally released to chart or will album tracks be able to chart, too?
The text chartfan posted is 5 years old and deals with the last update of the rules.Timmy94 wrote:Does this change mean that singles will need to be digitally released to chart or will album tracks be able to chart, too?
oh, sorry - i haven't look on the date of the text but it's indeed amazing that this change was already planned 5 years ago (and obviously never realized since then)Charter2000 wrote:The text chartfan posted is 5 years old and deals with the last update of the rules.Timmy94 wrote:Does this change mean that singles will need to be digitally released to chart or will album tracks be able to chart, too?
It was. Since then download only songs had to be registered to be allowed to chart. Incredible that these stupid rules already apply for 5 years now.chartsfan wrote:oh, sorry - i haven't look on the date of the text but it's indeed amazing that this change was already planned 5 years ago (and obviously never realized since then)Charter2000 wrote:The text chartfan posted is 5 years old and deals with the last update of the rules.Timmy94 wrote:Does this change mean that singles will need to be digitally released to chart or will album tracks be able to chart, too?
Yes, let's hope that from now on, every Track will be able to chart as soon as it's released.AshDeluxe wrote:It was. Since then download only songs had to be registered to be allowed to chart. No, I want it just to count for singles, in the end it's the German Singles Chart, not the German Tracks ChartCharter2000 wrote:Yes, let's hope that from now on, every Track will be able to chart as soon as it's released.AshDeluxe wrote:It was. And who decides what's a single and what's not? In the end we would have the same rules as we have now, as a song would have to be registered to be allowed to chart.Timmy94 wrote:No, I want it just to count for singles, in the end it's the German Singles Chart, not the German Tracks ChartCharter2000 wrote:Yes, let's hope that from now on, every Track will be able to chart as soon as it's released.AshDeluxe wrote:It was. What's a single is clear as it's defined by a seperate release of a track from an album (or in some cases of an EP). So it's just like the former physical format of a single, just that it's a digital format now.AshDeluxe wrote:And who decides what's a single and what's not? The concept of a "singles" chart is out of date, with all songs being available for download a track chart is more suitable to show what's popular.
