Alexandra Burke - Let It Go

Postby Colin » Thu Apr 26, 2012 5:28 pm

Alexandra will make her first television performance of 'Let It Go' on the final of The Voice of Ireland (for those wondering, that's Ireland's version of The Voice) this Sunday.

I'm looking forward to seeing what she can do with it as a live track. 'Elephant' was hardly a great song she could perform to, and the video to 'Let It Go' isn't so great either (I finally watched it in HQ the other night). It's a shame that she's selling herself short all of a sudden, but I guess that's the price you pay by taking a chance and leaving a reputable label.

This has really grown on me, it has a 90's feel to it IMO. I just don't feel her team are 100% into this era, so it won't be successful.

The cover is bad, I like the one in red where she is sort of laying down in white on the previous pages.

Who the hell is her stylist this era! And when is their execution date!

I agree in a way, I do think that her team aren't fully into the project and that it shows in her shoddy videos and promotional opportunities, the lack of creativity and bandwagoning that they're reducing her to (although, it could be argued that nearly everyone is doing the same thing nowadays, in order to be successful). Maybe it's the direction she wants to take, but it seems to be lacking something, almost like a lack of faith (the label's; not Alex's).

I think the single will do fine -- definitely another Top 5, at least. But what I fear right now is that she is turning into a 'singles artist' and that the album will sell next to nothing. It'd be unfortunate if it did happen, but here's hoping that it won't be the case.

The video is a lot better than Elephant, so I'm happy with that. Still not her best, but it's decent and does it's job.
The thing that I still don't understand is why she has changed her music style so much. She has become a bit of a joke this era it seems (not my opinion, but it feels like that when you read comments about her). I also think part of this is because of her X Factor guest appearance last year. She did a good job in my opinion but so got so many negative comments after it!

The end on a positive note, the single cover is really good. Possibly the best cover since Hallelujah. I just hope the album shows some of the old Alexandra instead of all this dance tracks we are getting now.

Rubbish single cover in my opinion, plus her logo reminds me of the X Factor.

WOW, this grew immensely on me. At first I was totally disappointed, but this really is another song in HQ. I love it now and I am totally interested in the album again after the disaster that Elephant was.

Hate the logo too, wish she'd changed that for this new era. I have a feeling the album cover will be cheap.
