My entire top 5 is in... great!

Good debuts for Big Hoops (Bigger The Better) and nice start for Where Have You Been, I can see both songs climbing the chart in the next weeks.

Glad to see two old tracks like What It Feels Like For A Girl and The Roof charting.

i think i downloaded the song in january.. so it's quite old now. The song actually came out in deceber 2011.

I own the album since January though but it seems like my personal chart is the one which is the most about longevity :lol:

At the moment, the average of the weeks each song on my current top 10 has spent on the overall chart is 12.2 weeks, so perhaps once the songs reach my top 10, they are already out of interest for others :lol:

Another thing: I don't think that just taking the top 5 points really represent the momentary music taste of all of us. For example: A song that is No. 1 on one chart and not even in the top 50 of every other chart can chart on the UKmixPARADE, while a song which is between No. 6 and 10 on the chart of 20 users can't. I think the top 10 is something that is a more important expression than the top 5 and so it should be enlarged to include the top 10 songs of the users. This can make it easier to have a seperation between the songs and less songs have a tie, which is especially helpfull as there are more personal charts than ever now...

oh i understand u. songs used to stay in my top 10 for months and months 5-8 years back.. but now.. they barely make it to 10 weeks. the longest running #1 on my chart was actually every tearfrop is a waterfall with 6 weeks followed by assassin by john mayer for 5 weeks.. but both songs dropped quite quickly after they served their time at #1.

i wud agree on that but it would take CZB soooo much time to include the entire top 10 of 65-80 personal charts each week. I mean I have so much respect for him for doing the chart the way it is.

I think that too... but on my chart, some songs do have also some longevity. For example, Lana's Born To Die spent it's 18th week in my Top10 last week, Video Games is since 23 weeks in my chart and still in the Top10...

Yes.....when I first came up with the idea, getting on for three years ago now, I had intended to use top tens - but it quickly became clear that this would require far too much time. And there were only (!) fifty-six charts then, there are usually considerably more than that now.....

Maybe at the beginning of next year, or the beginning of another year when I'm fully retired and might have more free time to spare, I can reconsider whether it would be feasible to work with top tens instead of top fives - although I did look more closely than usual at the 6-10 range of all the new charts this week, and I really couldn't see anything that appeared in many of those that wasn't already in other top fives.

So.....what about tonight's new chart, the first ever with as many as EIGHTY contributors?!?!

Well....Conor Maynard and Labrinth are currently the only challengers for top forty new entries.....Train could be on their way back to the top ten......and if you glance up to the new charts Belpop and Marcthemike have submitted a few posts up, they have the same number two which, with help from others, looks guaranteed to be the highest re-entry!

And the top end of the chart is very closely contested this week - at present, just four points separate four strong contenders for number one. Anything can still change as a result of further top fives posted in the next seven and a half hours!

This brings the total number of contributors to eighty!
