Forbes also predicted that Combs will probably be hip-hop's first billionaire - well on his way, it seems.Forbes has announced the five wealthiest Hip Hop artists of 2012.
Deeming the exclusive group "the Forbes Five," the publication names Sean "Diddy" Combs as the richest of the bunch, which also includes Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Bryan "Birdman" Williams and Dr. Dre.
Diddy ranks at the top with a net worth of $550 million, thanks to his investment in Ciroc vodka, his Sean John and Enyce clothing lines, his record label Bad Boy and several startups. Additionally, his cable channel Revolt could make him a billionaire in 2013.
Jay-Z comes in second with $460 million due to the selling of his stake in Rocawear clothing for $204 million in 2007. His business ventures flesh out his net worth, with stakes in the New Jersey Nets, the 40/40 Club chain, his ad firm Translation and more.
Dr. Dre comes in third with $270 million because of his investment in Beats Electronics, while Birdman places at No. 4 with a sum of $125 million to his name. 50 Cent rounds out the list with $110 million in the bank.

There's no way 50 Cent, Nas and Waka Flocka Flame are gonna go Gold. It won't be easy even for B.o.B. (I predict a very low debut for him, between 60k and 80k I would say) and T.I. as well. The other ones should have no problems, with GOOD music going Platinum EASY.skycycle wrote:OF, Schoolboy Q and BIG Krit are the only ones I **** with from that list... and then let's not forget my man ASAP, who I hope will hurt the hip-hop game in a good way this summer
Otherwise albums that could outsell Nicki Minaj are possible here and there - after all she's not really selling well and we have to see how strong the singles are. In all truth, she will not have an easy time reaching platinum this time around. Anyway, here are some albums that will probably do good, although platinum would be a far shot for most of them...
B.O.B. - Clouds (out this week)
50 Cent - Untitled
Eminem - Curtain Call: The Hits (Import) - rerelease
Wiz Khalifa - O.N.I.F.C.
Nas - Life Is Good
Ludacris - Ludaversal
GOOD Music - GOOD Music: The Album
J. Cole - Untitled
Rick Ross - God Forgives, I Don't
T.I. - Trouble Man
Waka Flocka Flame - Triple F Life
All of the above could and should go gold, and I think at least one of them will be good enough to do platinum - maybe Ross, maybe J.Cole or Nas, we'll have to wait. There are a few surprise albums that can potentially go for Gold without anyone expecting them:
Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid in a Mad City
ASAP Rocky - LongLiveA$AP
Big K.R.I.T. - Live From the Underground
2 Chainz - Based on a TRU Story
Also, keep in Mind that Weezy will probably release something this year as well - could be Rebirth 2, could be the Birdman collabo...
What are your thoughts?
You sure? Well they're jumping on trap music right now and seem to be quite succesful with that, but even that Young Money compilation didn't go platinum and they're clearly bigger atm.Willypedia wrote:The other ones should have no problems, with GOOD music going Platinum EASY.
When the Young Money compilation came out, Drake and Nicki Minaj were not as big as now, I'm 100% sure the GOOD music compilation will go Platinum.Molattow wrote:You sure? But Sean, Cudi, Pusha, Legend, Common aren't exactly as big as Drake and Nicki now, too. But I see that they can attract people, but enough for Platinum? I'm not so sure bout that, but I'd be happy to be wrong with my doubts.Willypedia wrote:When the Young Money compilation came out, Drake and Nicki Minaj were not as big as now, I'm 100% sure the GOOD music compilation will go Platinum.Molattow wrote:You sure?
