But every album last year was a flop if you compare with 21s sales.Brazilian wrote:And as always,at the end of the day, Bionic gets caught in the crossfire. !Rub_rb wrote:

it's not that every album was a flop, obviously...it's just that 21 was HUGE!wave wrote:But every album last year was a flop if you compare with 21s sales.Brazilian wrote:And as always,at the end of the day, Bionic gets caught in the crossfire. !Rub_rb wrote:

wow huge sales!bionicfan wrote:Aguilera has sold more than Bionic (300 k) and Burlesque (600 k) in the U.S. without a single hit![]()

I bet a Madonna/Cher soundtrack would sell more than 600K.bionicfan wrote:Aguilera has sold more than Bionic (300 k) and Burlesque (600 k) in the U.S. without a single hit![]()

I wish all the names you mentioned to be able to even chart (lol) in case they'll get or even approach the actual stage of M career!Rub_rb wrote:Minaj might sell less??? LOL. MDNA" ? It will problably end up between 500-700k in USA and that's simply FANTASTIC!
Britney's "Femme Fatale" sold 800K in the US and 1.6 Million WW and it was a flop... or maybe it was a flop for last year's standards??
Floop is 550K WW and 300K US Bionic.
"Hard Candy" sold 700k copies, "American Life" sold somewhere close to that. "Celebration" did what? 300k copies? These, plus that HC was released several years ago shows that 150k less than HC is not a flop by her recent low standards. 550k copies is not even that low considering all the other A-listers' sales either. Beyonce barely did a million copies, Britney Spears went 700k copies, so is Rihanna. Nicki Minaj might sell even less than Madonna. Lady GaGa did 2 million copies but her previous album outsold HC by like 7 times while Katy Perry scored a lot of hits to move 2 million copies.
Besides, US is not the whole world... And MDNA might end selling more or less what HC did there, but it'll struggle to reach 2 million ww and HC did 3.5 m. If we look year sales overall, HC was in YE's Top 10 and MDNA won't. Low Top 20 maximum. And for God's sake, we're comparing it with HC, her lowest selling to date.
Beyonce's 4 final sales will be 3 million, being pregnant, little promo for her standards, no big hit... And that will be her lowest selling to date. Gaga's BTW - 6,5 million, 6 million for Katy Perry, Rihanna's TTT is at 3 million WW now but it will end up selling 4..
Femme Fatale was a bit of a flop.. 1,7 million WW... A total dissaster in the UK and other big markets and not even a million in the US despite having 3 hits...
It's you who started comparisons to try make it look better... What would it be next, comparing it to Bionic to make it look like a hit??? Lol.
Yes, if it sells 2 million WW and it's in the Top 20 of the biggest sellers of the year it cannot be called a flop, considering her age, no promo, no hits, that's for sure!! But please, don't try to fool people and yourselves comparing it to other female artists' sales, as that only shows that it's not selling good at all...

I think that's possible. I'm pretty sure MDNA has shipped way over 100k in the UK and around 500k in the USA.Dragonn wrote:Maybe next week for both countries.mavericksire wrote:100K in UK so not quite sold that yetDragonn wrote:Why hasn't MDNA been certified gold in the USA? That you like it or not standard for acts of different generations they do exist...especially and even more when you cross the 50's as Madonna.biscuits wrote:I think using 'she's been doing this for 30 years' excuse is getting tired now.
totally agree!denise wrote:
And for the record I have no problem to say that MDNA is dooing poorly especially in Europe...wwhere she is a sell monster, Usa numbers instead do not impress me that much, all in all 500K was what every one was expecting from her there so if she'll be ever luky to sell around 600k when everything is said and done: that's good for me.
It's not doing well globally but it's just obvious that she's not bombing in her homeland at all. And I was responding how "MDNA" is in line with 'her' own standards so "Bionic" or "21" would not be relevant. But globally there's no denying that it's not doing up to her standards (yet) and I didn't know it was something new that worth mentioning, considering Madonna bombing everywhere has been the constant topic here since its second week.Rub_rb wrote:Minaj might sell less??? When was the last 50+ act (who does vocals) to score a big U.S. hit post-"Believe"? Hasn't happened. Madonna will continue to score fleeting success with her leas singles, most likely- but even if she released a track that was generally well-received, her radio success still would be very limited compared to younger acts.
Outside the USA, ageism is less of an issue, but even in the UK, focus reportedly is moving to the youth at radio.
