It's actually been featured at the very top of the Amazon MP3 page for $5 all week long. Most big increases of late (including lots of reentries onto the B200 this past week) have been due to Amazon MP3 discounts.

I wanted The Wanted to at least do some nice sales. I'm a little disappointed. The fact that One Direction, who I also love, are selling above them in their 4th or 5th week is also a bit of an ego-crusher.

Should be an interesting week, #1 definite for Carrie. Norah should do top 10, though I am curious how well her new "alternative" sound will go over since most of the people who fawned over Come Away With Me are now on the 21 bandwagon, much like how Alanis saw a major sales dropoff because the Jagged bandwagoners were on Norah by 2002-2004.

Manson should go top 10 also.

I guess calling Xtina a bitch didnt help the Wanted boost their sales.

I remember in 2005 Natasha Bedingfield charting at number 26 selling 34,000 in her first week. Its quite disappointing to see that today that is enough to chart within the Top 10 :-?

I took the liberty to take off the "Adele 550k+" from the title of this thread since she's far from those sales right now - well, at least this week

Lee Brice, Kip Moore, The Wanted All Debut in This Week's Top 10

May 1, 2012

The Blunderbuss stops here. White Stripes founder Jack White’s debut solo album on Third Man/Columbia marks his first-ever chart-topper, as it bows on the HITS sales chart at #1 with 128k.
That’s enough to finish ahead of XL/Columbia Grammy-winning diva Adele’s 21, which remains strong at #2, with more than 8.9 million in U.S. sales. Coincidentally, XL is White’s label in the U.K.

Last week’s #1, Mercury Nashville’s Lionel Richie country duets album Tuskegee, dips to #3, with Syco/Columbia breakthrough U.K. boy band One Direction at #4, giving Team Stringer/Barnett all but one of the Top Four.

Curb Country star Lee Brice’s Hard 2 Love enters at #5, followed by a pair of chart newcomers in MCA Nashville’s truck-drivin’ man Kip Moore (#6) and Mercury/IDJ’s Scooter Braun-managed The Wanted (#7), riding the success of the hit single, “Glad You Came.”

Fairfax/Universal Republic’s Gotye (#8), YM/CM/Universal Republic’s Nicki Minaj and Atlantic’s Jason Mraz (#10) round out the leaders.

Other Top 50 debuts are registered by Pretty Damn Tough’s country-rock Josh Abbott Band (#14), Musical Freedom's world-class Dutch DJ Tiesto (#18) and Eleven Seven Music’s Deuce (#34).

A&M/Octone’s Maroon 5 (#21), Universal Republic’s Florence + the Machine (#49) and Glassnote’s Mumford & Sons (#50) all re-enter the chart.

WB Nashville’s Blake Shelton (#46-19, +95%) and Nonesuch’s The Black Keys (#18-13, +47%) lead all double-digit gainers for the week, followed by Capitol/EMI’s Katy Perry (#44-35, +25%), Capitol Nashville’s Eric Church (#19-17, +23%), Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna (#38-32, +17%), YM/CM/Universal Republic’s Drake (#32-25, +14%), Big Machine’s Brantley Gilbert (#47-44, +10%) and Capitol Nashville’s Luke Bryan (#13-12, +10%).

Hitting retail this week are 19/Arista Nashville’s Carrie Underwood, Blue Note/EMI’s Norah Jones, Marvel Music/Hollywood’s Avengers Assemble soundtrack, Grand Hustle/Atlantic’s B.o.B, Capitol/EMI’s Now 42 and Columbia’s Smash cast album.

CARRIE ON, UNDERWOOD’S COMING

19/RCA Nashville Star Set to Debut #1, Now 42, Norah Jones, B.o.B Also on Tap

May 2, 2012

Carrie Underwood’s poised for a #1 debut. Her new 19/RCA Nashville album, Blown Away, will top next week’s chart with estimates of between 275-295k, according to one-day sales reports from retailers busy packing their bags for next week’s NARM convention in L.A.

It’s the former American Idol winner’s fourth studio album and first since 2009’s Play On, which sold 318k on its debut Nov. 3 of that year on the way to a total over 2 million.

Underwood performed her iconic Idol cover of Heart’s “Alone” last night as part of a 10-song set for Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio in N.Y.C.

Capitol/EMI’s Now 42, a series surprisingly still showing some sales power, will debut with 95-100k.

Blue Note/EMI Grammy winner Norah Jones’ Danger Mouse-produced Little Broken Hearts, which represents a significant stylistic departure, is on target for 90-100k. It’s her first album since 2009’s The Fall, which sold 181k its first week in Nov.

Grand Hustle/Atlantic rapper B.o.B’s sophomore album, Strange Clouds, is set for 70-80k in first-week sales.

Marilyn Manson’s new album for Cooking Vinyl/Downtown, Born Villain, looks to sell 35-40k. It’s his first album in three years since leaving Interscope Records.

Marvel Music/Hollywood’s Avengers Assemble soundtrack, featuring “Live to Rise,” the first new Soundgarden track in years, along with songs from Shinedown, Bush, Rise Against, Scott Weiland, Black Veil Brides, Evanescence, Five Finger Death Punch, Buckcherry, Papa Roach and Cherri Bomb, is earmarked for sales of 25-30k.

The UMe release of the companion CD to Martin Scorsese’s George Harrison documentary, Living in the Material World, is slated for 14-17k.

Atlantic hip-hop hybrid Santigold’s sophomore album Master of My Make-Believe is on target for 12-15k.

Album sales were down 6% vs. last week, flat vs. same week last year and down 1% year to date.

Track sales were down 1.5% vs. last week, up 1% vs. same week last year and up 7% year to date.

TEA sales were down 4% vs. last week, up 1% vs. same week last year and up 2% year to date.
