the top 20 will get special treatment.Timmy94 wrote:Great idea to do such a countdown.
Mariah Carey is not my cup of tea (only own E=MC²), but I could do it for Madonna... Or of course some other artists!
Maybe you can "verschönern" it a bit by adding the singles covers (or album covers for album-only tracks) and give some information or a personal "Rezension"...
naw, wbt is still to comejpguy wrote:I love "It's like that" , the song was very upbeat and different!!! It was good for a party or dinner hahahaha... I loved the HOT TAMALE part!!! has WE BELONG TOGETHER charted already?
I wish you well is easily one of the greatest tracks she recorded in the 00's. The song truely carried me to heaven and was a monster hit on my chart in 2008. Together with My Saving Grace and Fly Like a Bird it forms the gospel trinity.
The video to this brilliant remix was shot in a club not far away from where I live now. It's too crazy to think about it, when I pass it on my night-outs. The song is a trademark R&B monster with a melody most artists could only dream of. Without this remix, Thank God I Found You would have never hit #1 on the Hot 100.
Mariah Carey truely is the queen of dance remixes. Many people don't give her enough credit for changing the vocals and melodies and re-do the whole song. The video to this version is also amazing and re-freshing because for the first time in her career, she let's her fans see the fun side of being Mariah Carey. I cannot tell you, how many times I tried to iron my hair. Unforgotten is the inclusion of the dance version on her Daydream Tour in Tokyo in 1996.
The competition gets stronger and stronger. We Belong Together is one of the longest running #1 singles on my personal chart and still holds the record for most spins in 1 week. The song brought her back to the game and sparks what would become the biggest comeback of a mainstream (R&B) artist in 2005. The amazing production of the background vocals contributes to the song's hypnotizing effects.
Many people seem to forget about this song. I re-discovered it about 2 years ago and it found its place among my alltime favourite Mariah Carey songs. The climax transforms this ballad into a gospel firework. Only Mariah can combine two genres in one take. Music Box is full of surprises. You just have to take some time and discover them one by one.
