Because it lost some promotional airplay from album releases week, and there was a NASCAR race yesterday, which took spins away from everybody.

Oh, okay. Thanks for the info! I hope it can rebound tomorrow.

I'm really nervous. I wished she could debut with at least 300k. That would make all her albums debut above that mark.

However, I'm really happy and hope she get a 2nd week at #1 which is very possible. This week there's no major release that could threaten the #1 and I don't think Adele will return to #1

Yes, No. 1 for a second week seems to be a given with the delay of Chris Brown's Fortune which would've been a threat for that week.
But what do you think about a 3rd week at No. 1? There are several potential contenders for a top-10-position but not an album which could easily reach the top... Adam Lambert's album could come the closest as his previous album reached the top 3 and had a total of 800k. Though this was with a top-10-hit and the hype of American Idol and since the end of his last album's era, people didn't hear much from him and he hasn't even had a decent hit to give him a push. So could he be a threat for that week?
Other albums for that week are Santana's Shape Shifter, Lisa Marie Presley's Sorm & Grace and the Glee Cast's new album - Willie Nelson's Heroes is very high on Amazon, but his previous 5 albums only peaked at No. 87, 56, 43, 20 and a non-charter, so I don't know what to think of this...

Aw, I was expecting her to at least be closer to 300,000. No worries, though. Longevity is the goal now. 8-)

I totally agree with your analysis Timmy!! Keith Kaulfield better watch out

The thing is that i totally disgree that Lisa Marie Presley can be a threaten to a 3rd week number one, or even Glee - their last albums don't sell too much lately.

Adam Lambert I think he's not gonna be #1. Only time will tell us

I didn't say that Lisa Marie Presley or Glee are threats for No. 1, only that they are (among the) most promising new albums of that week!

If she gets a 2nd week at #1 it will be her first time, but I'd never thought of a 3rd week... She couldn't have picked a better date to release the album

Billboard 200 albums

#1 new Blown Away Carrie Underwood (267,000 soundscan)

only the 3rd release in 2012 to sell more than 200k on debut week. All 3 women. :o

I'd think Santana would be more of a threat his last album was a cover album this one is new material so it should sell alot better than the last one :) Adam Lambert could be a threat as well

Yes, the sales were very bad this year so far  ...

@fearlesswift13: You could be right about Santana because their last album of new material reached Gold and a peak of No. 2... I only looked at their last album and so thought No. 1 would be a bit hard to reach.
And there's of course Adam Lambert...
Anyway, I hope that after a second week at No. 1, Blown Away won't fall that hard in the 3rd week: I hope it doesn't drop below No. 3 that week.

TWO DIVAS: ONE THRONE

Looks Like It Could Be Carrie vs. Adele for #1 on Post-Mother’s Day Chart

May 9, 2012

Mother’s Day is turning out to be a mother of a battle between a pair of pop divas.

It may be a little too early to say, but it’s sure looking like a tussle for #1 next week between 19/Arista Nashville country star Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away, this week’s chart-topper, and XL/Columbia perennial Adele, set to go over 9 million sold in the U.S. for her Grammy-sweeping 21.

With a mother day boost and a push due to the excessive pomo expected for this week, could we see an unusually small decrease? Most No.-1-albums drop 60-70% in their second week, but with the conditions, could Blown Away just drop ~ 30% to ~ 180k?
I remember albums even increasing due to a holiday boost in their second week like Justin Bieber's My World or Susan Boyle's The Gift.
What do you think?
