I'll say yes, if his next album is as good as his first.

I do think the decider will be not just his own songs, but also his work for other artists, which will help him in the long run.

Probably no as of now... but if he can manage to release many albums that has the same standard as "Doo Wops and Hooligans", then...

A legend?

Even remotely.
There's only one Queen
and that's MADONNA.

Bruno - No! I think he'll have the same fate as most of the male R&B singers and fade out. Hope I'm wrong though.

It's still too early to determine whether or not Mars will be a legend.

I'm not a fan of Usher either but I don't see why you are comparing the two? :-? Usher has been a round much longer with large success and has managed to keep his success even while changing his genre of music over the years. Bruno has released one album and that's it...

Like Usher was a god  ... Actually it was more about an image rather than his music which prevented him from becoming bigger and actually reach a certain status. His first few albums were OK-RNB-albums, Confessions was a moderate album with 4-5 mega hits on it. Then he kinda lost himself and when we wanted to return, he jumped on lame dance songs which still don't get people to buy his albums... So it's clear why he won't become a legend: He lacks a real masterpiece album and still hasn't found his identity... Plus, his credibility isn't always very clear!

---

Bruno Mars is on his debut album so it's hard to say how he'll develop. At the moment, he has several features and with his own singles, he's on the edge of overexposure now... He's having his own style, mixing individuality and commercialism and can actually entertain people. He has the potential to become real big, I think it really depends on which path he'll take but for me the moment and as the thread-starter wants a definite answer, I go with a YES.

Do these people have a Criteria for what legendary is????? Usher no? But Shakira yes??? I see it for Shakira but Usher is legend before her. Bruno Mars being brought up is unfathomable, especially when there are artists like Justin Timberlake, J. Lo, GaGa, Rihanna, Katy, Black Eyes Peas????? and people saying no... Girl bye.

The question was will they be legendary? Not are they legendary. But the biggest gagger is that people asking what have Destinys Child done that's legendary? Giiiiirl! This post is a kack!

These people must be from 3rd world countries... No one did their research before. Voting obviously...

Omg... Confessions was a moderate hit? Wasn't it the best selling album of the 2000's decade?

I mean with Taylor Swifts success even she has the chance to be legend, well she'll definitely will be a legend in country music but she sells sickening amounts at the time when no one was selling a quarter of what she sold...

People should learn how to read properly. I wrote "a moderate album", meaning the quality of the songs is not that fine and that's not the same as a "moderately successful album"...
Anyway, Confessions wasnn't the best-selling album of the 2000s, but The Beatles' 1.

At your comment for Taylor Swift: An artist selling huge doesn't make it easier to be entitled a legend later as this depends on the influence on the whole music history rather than the commercial success. An artist never having a Gold or a top 10 album somewhere could become a legend, while one with consecutive Multi-Platinum No.-1-albums and hit singles needn't...

I'm sorry but an album sells over 10 million copies and you say it's "quality" is not "fine", bye you're deluded.

What have they done that was legendary?
They started singing together at age 13 went through trials and tribulations just to get a record deal, got a record deal released their first single it went #1 and their first cd sold 3 million, rush released their second cd, the legendary The Writing's on the Wall cd spawned 3 #1's and sold 15 million world wide, 8 in the US alone. More trials and tribulations a couple replacements and lots of negative press, they release independent woman with new member Michelle Williams and it went to #1 for 11 weeks straight. Then released their next cd survivor and so on and so forth...

To break it down they have multiple #1's, multiple sickening album sales, critically they're considered thee girl group of the past 20 years, Grammys, world wide appeal and they definitely put their time in... What more do you want?

What do you consider legendary??
