MadgeAngel wrote:Celebration receives another price cut to $7.99 on iTunes. It's also advertised on the front page with the other albums that got a price cut. It's something

And also under the Pop category, Celebration Deluxe is on the front page under "Mom's we Like" and is clearly visible. Celebration is getting more promotion than MDNA right now
i hope ,it can re enter on the 200 album chart 8-)

erotica has sold more than 6,500,000 , it wasn t a flop , then some albums of other divas in the 90s that have sold like 7-8 m are flops too , erotica had a huge impact , and its one of the most loved madonna s albums by madonna s hardcore fans
6.5 mio. copies for Erotica sold? Doubtful! I'd say 5 mio. at best looking at its certifications and chart performance all around the world, not to forget that it hasn't been a constant catalog seller which would explain a higher number.

Again you say like certain number of albums = flop.
It depends on the artist and as Madonna has had several very successful studio albums in the 80s and just came from her biggest effort ever with the Immaculate Collection, Erotica falls far off. If "other divas" sold their typical 7-8 mio. copies per album, what's the flop about it? Flop means disappointment and you can only have one if sales are far lower than your standard and at the time of release, Madonna's standard was way higher than 5 mio.

As I already wrote, impact doesn't have to do with what "hardcore fans" like but if it does influence the people in a major way and I doubt that this can be related to Erotica...

Then check again Timmy, erotica easily sold more than 5 mil.

USA Canada mexico and south America = over 3m
Europe = 2.2 million

The album was huge is Asia, selling over half a million in Japan, 100k in Taiwan and 50k in Singapore, for a total of 675k in 3 Asian countries only. It's certified 3xp in Australia and gold in South Africa.

According to my estimations it's at 6.8 million

Hello!
Before Argentina's Capif site went down, I saw that all Ciao Italia: Live in Italy, Girlie Show: Live Down Under, The Video Collection 93 - 99, Immaculate Collection video, Drowned World Tour [Live in Detroit], I´m Going To Tell You A Secret, The Confessions Tour [Live from London], and Madonna: Celebration – The Video Collection went at least Platinum there.
Does anyone know how much Platinum for videos was before the changes in 2001 and how much these titles have sold to date(approximately) ?

Platinum for videos nowadays in Ar.is supposed to be at 15k.

Also, some titles charted as albums not videos (like The Confessions Tour CD/DVD) which would put it at 40k (1xPlat for albums).

The site just shows the "Premios Gardel" and nothing else.

Any info greatly appreciated.

How many copies is that approx?

And with physical copies, do you think it could maybe hit Top 200 or at least get close to it.

^Great Post Tiago .
I was just checking the "United World Charts" and realised that Madonna is the only solo artist to top the Year End Singles Cowntdown 3 Times: 1986(Papa Don´t Preach), 1989(Like A Prayer) and 2000(Music). In 1990 she finished at #2 with Vogue !

BTW, an interesting info from MadonnaTribe :

Back in 1985 today, "Crazy For You" made the top spot in the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking Madonna's second U.S. #1 hit.
