I'm not the biggest fan of Rap music but at least most of the Rap songs don't make my ears bleed.

Most people who hate "rap music" don't really understand it.

And it's not rap music. It's hip hop music.

I do like many rap artists and songs.. but when the likes of 50 cent rap about cars and big boobs and how awesome they are, then they have obviously not understood the genre.

I love random songs by rappers like 50 cent, NAS etc. but I only really check for Nicki, Drake, Azealia, Trina & Shawnna really.. & I still love Foxy's albums.

Rap =/= hip hop (despite hip hop music primarily utilising rap).

Well...you have to understand that hip hop was born out of the struggle (particularly the crack epidemic).

In it's pre-Reagan, "crack music" days (i.e. the 1970s), it started out with boys sitting on the stoop, spitting bars about all sorts of things.

About the injustice, the crime and the poverty that they endured in "the land of the free," about having a good time, about girls, about other dudes, about the fancy things that they had, about the fancy things they wished they had, about girls, about their parents, about everyday life...did I mention girls?

It was just about anything. Rapping is really just another form of poetry.

It's more dynamic than spoken word and more poetic than run-of-the-mill balladry...all the while, it doesn't sacrifice its gritty prosaicism: the thing that actually separates it from normal poetry.

But just like every other popular music genre, it's been transformed into this grotesque caricature by untalented individuals and greedy businessmen.

Nas makes hip hop music. But he's a rapper...because he raps.

Flo-Rida makes pop music. But he's a rapper...because he raps.

John Legend makes R&B music. But he's a singer...because he sings.

See what I am getting at?

Yeah, I do now but the way you wrote it made it seem as if you were trying to suggest rap is hip hop. Thanks for making it clear you weren't.

Wrecking Ball got a rival for best album of 2012, it's John Mayer's Born & Raised. It was about time to get one!

Any music genre >>> US/UK Rap/Hip Hop or whatever they call it.
What if we choose to exist in a reality of our own making, does that render us insane, and if so, isn't that better than a life of despair?
