Yep it would be for me. I haven't downloaded any Rihanna tracks (I would listen on YouTube if I felt like it), but I would buy her greatest hits if she chose to release one.
Counting down the days until 21 outsells Morning Glory in the UK.

THREE DIVAS VIE FOR THE CROWN

Adele, Carrie Underwood and Adam Lambert in a Three-Way Race for #1

May 16, 2012

While it's still early in the week, a three-way battle is shaping up for #1 between Adele and Carrie Underwood, both of which will have substantial post-Mother's Day drops, and Adam Lambert, who appears to be trending to the high end of expectations.

The former American Idol runner-up and 19/RCA recording artist’s sophomore album, Trespassing, looks set to debut with between 70-80k, which will at least put him in the running for a chart-topping bow. His 2009 debut, For Your Entertainment, scored first-week sales of 198k, which was good for a #3 debut, albeit on the Tuesday after Black Friday.

Columbia rock parodists Tenacious D’s Rize of the Fenix roused fans of the duo’s Jack Black and Kyle Gass to buy 45-50k, less than the 81k they scored back in Nov. ’06 with The Pick of Destiny, but still impressive.

Columbia’s Glee: The Music, The Graduation Album is on target for 40-45k.

Sub Pop’s Baltimore dream pop duo Beach House is eyeing 20-25k for their fourth album, Bloom, and second for the influential Seattle indie.

Garbage’s first indie foray, Not Your Kind of People, on their own Stun Volume label, should do in the 18-22k range. Their last album, 2005’s Bleed Like Me, for Geffen, did approximately 75k.

Album sales were down 3% vs. last week, down 2% vs. same week last year and down 1% year to date.

Track sales were down 2% vs. last week, up 1% vs. same week last year and up 7% year to date.

TEA sales were down 3% vs. last week, down 1% vs. same week last year and up 1% year to date.

yikes, Garbage won't even go top 10? For so many people I know, this is the album of 2012.

quality =/= success

Though the first week sales' drop is of course striking compared to the band's previous albums...

HITS:

Your Weakend Chart Preview:

With an appearance tonight on American Idol, we're giving Adam Lambert the edge for #1 next week. Idol alumni hold down two of the Top 3 as Sony Music lands a whopping seven titles in the Top 10.

Adele will record her lowest total yet and still likely remain at #2. In its 65 weeks on the chart, 21 has only dipped below 100k twenty times.

Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:

*Adam Lambert (19/RCA) 70-75k
Adele (XL/Columbia) 60-65k
Carrie Underwood (19/Arista Nashville) 55-60k
Now 42 (Capitol/EMI) 45-50k
*Tenacious D (Columbia) 45-50k
*Glee Cast: The Graduation (Columbia) 40-45k
Lionel Richie (Mercury Nashville) 40-45k
Norah Jones (Blue Note/EMI) 35-40k
One Direction (Syco/Columbia) 30-35k
Smash Cast (Columbia) 28-32k
*Beach House (Sub Pop) 24-27k
Jack White (Third Man/Columbia) 23-26k
*Garbage (Stun Volume) 18-21k
Gotye (Fairfax/Universal Republic) 18-21k

TOO BAD FOR GARBAGE, cuz this upcoming week is gonna be very bad and 50k would easily secure No.4-5, which with full retail (cca 30k) SHOULD HAVE HAPPEN!
DAMN iTunes exclusive release week (May 15)
with stronger promo, the album could have made Top 3

Tenacious D, 'Glee' and Garbage Headed for High Debuts on Billboard 200 Chart

May 18, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles

While it seems that Adam Lambert is on the verge of his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with Trespassing, a number of other acts are set to debut in the top 20 next week.

Industry sources suggest that Lambert's Trespassing could sell around 70,000 to 80,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, May 20. In a week without any other major new releases, and little competition, that may be enough to debut at No. 1 next week. Adele's 21 will likely be the runner-up, with between 60,000 to 70,000.

The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, May 23.

Comedy rock duo Tenacious D (comprised of actors Jack Black and Kyle Glass) could see its Rize of the Fenix album bow in the top 10. The effort -- its first since 2006's The Pick of Destiny soundtrack -- could shift 40,000 to 50,000.

Also on tap for a possible top 10 bow is the latest "Glee" TV soundtrack. The Fox show's Glee, the Music: Season Three - The Graduation Album could move around 40,000 to 50,000. That sort of sales figure will mark the lowest debut for a full-length "Glee" soundtrack album. Of the 10 earlier full-length albums (not counting its live movie soundtrack), the lowest start was earned by the last one: Glee, the Music: Season 3 - Volume 7. It began with 58,000 in December 2011 (according to Nielsen SoundScan).

Rock band Garbage has been absent from the Billboard 200 since 2007, but will finally make its return next week with the new studio set Not Your Kind of People. The album is its first studio offering since 2005's Bleed Like Me, and it is aiming for a launch of around 20,000.

On track to debut with perhaps a bit more than Garbage is Beach House's fourth studio album, Bloom. Both Garbage and Beach House could flirt with a top 10 debut, but a top 20 start is more likely.

On Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart (below), Lambert is No. 1 while Adele's 21 is sitting pretty at No. 2. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants.

As for the rest of the Building Chart: Tenacious D is No. 3, Carrie Underwood's Blown Away is at No. 4 and the "Glee" set is No. 5. The Now 42 compilation is in sixth place, Lionel Richie's Tuskegee is No. 7 and Garbage is No. 8. The "Smash" TV soundtrack is at No. 9 while Beach House's Bloom rounds out the list at No. 10.

Nielsen SoundScan Building Chart

Rank LW BB 200 Artist Title

1 NEW Adam Lambert "Trespassing"
2 2 Adele "21"
3 NEW Tenacious D "Rize of the Fenix"
4 1 Carrie Underwood "Blown Away"
5 NEW Soundtrack "Glee, the Music: Season 3 - The Graduation Album"
6 4 Various Artists "Now 42"
7 3 Lionel Richie "Tuskegee"
8 NEW Garbage "Not Your Kind of People"
9 13 Soundtrack "Smash"
10 NEW Beach House "Bloom"

The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.

I don't suppose the recent (and insignificant) Billboard Awards would not affect the sales since it was on a Sunday night, right? It was watched by only about 7million people, if the Grammys was watched by 40million and Adele sold 750~k, I would deduce that she should do 125k-ish this week, since she won 12 awards, but probably not.

The main prob with that award show is that they downplayed Adele's awards because she didn't show up, so while she was the big winner, it was the likes of LMFAO and Katy Perry who got showered the attention on there.

I don't expect a boost in sales for Adele at all from these awards.
The interview and highlights from the RAH concert next month will bring the sales in.

Yes. The grammy boost of Adele was a combination of her winning awards + her performance + all the attention being on her.
