They're definately doing the right thing - keep moving on, and releasing as much as possible. I loved their Playgirlz album but it didn't go that well in Japan, so it's good they're straight onto the next project.

Beautiful covers.

Sucks that "Dilly Dally" won't have a music video :(

I don't follow the Japanese charts regularly but I notice that most Japanese artists sing in Japanese and only very few sing in English (while in other non-Anglistic countries, the percentage of English-singing artists is bigger).
Though most titles are English...

The Japanese language seems to have a bigger importance in Japan than the native language in other countries. During the last couple of years, only 4 international singles reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 and while it happens easier on the Albums Chart, international No.-1-albums still don't happen often there.

^ well yes, Japan is very proud of their language & prefers their music in their own language, however, 95% of Japanese songs now have English in them, either it be random words or an English chorus.

LOVE Secret's new single! Sure, it's a bit of sellout for them - it's not their style and it's clearly aimed to be a huge hit in Japan, but it's still good nonetheless! Zinger adds some Secret-ness to it though :P

And T-ARA's Japanese album is such a letdown. TWO new tracks?! What the hell!?
The covers are awful too (SOOO not T-ARA), except the CD only version which is really beautiful.

Why do Japanese artists usually release like 4 or 5 singles before the actual album?

ITs just how the market works, sometimes they dont even release any singles (Ayumi Hamasaki's latest album did NOT feature any single before its release) but usually, they release 2, 3 singles before the album drops... the SINGLES released feature a b side, remixes, karaoke or instrumental versions of the song... the album itself contains the lead single (just not the b-sides) and more songs added... that's why debut week is highly important, people already know all the singles so they just buy it with known music... the next week it drops dramatically showing a 79-85% sales loss...

^ this. They don't release any singles after the album drops so that's why they get them all out before the album, which sucks because then you get like 5 new songs

I wonder if there's been any act releasing it the Western way... the album first, and then 3 singles thorughout the whole year, I haven't heard of that AT all...

Thank you so much! :D

One more question: so many Korean artists debut in Japan as well, but why do Japanese artists usually only focus on their native country and not promote in other Asian countries as well?

Because Japan is such a huge market, that's why Korean artists come over & release songs/albums in Japanese because although Korean is a big music market, Japan is like 10x bigger.
