Points: 505

Mariah Carey is the self-titled debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey. It was released on June 12, 1990 by Columbia Records. The album contains a range of contemporary genres, and the songs are a mix of slow ballads and dance tracks. Originally, Carey wrote four songs with Ben Margulies, which solely comprised her demo tape. While altered and partially re-sung after being signed to Columbia, all four songs made the final cut for the album. Aside from Margulies, Carey worked with a range of professional writers and producers, all of whom were hired by Columbia CEO, Tommy Mottola.

So much to comment on. The Mariah albums didn't do as well as I thought, although still 3 to come I suppose.

Top 25 for 'Spice' - cool!

So many big names have fallen! :o

...Baby One More Time is probably Brit's weakest album but the singles are phenomenal! "I Will Be There" is a great album track too.

From Blood On The Dancefloor, I really only like the title track.

I only know "My Heart Will Go On" from Let's Talk About Love so that's definitely a record I have to check out in full.

Considering "My Name Is" is the only song I really like from The Slim Shady LP, I'm a bit surprised to see Eminem so high up.

Emotions features some of MC's best vocals in her entire career. "If It's Over" slays discographies.

CrazySexyCool is most notably known for "Waterfalls". I must check out the album in full.

Mariah Carey is one of the best debut albums ever! "Prisoner" is my fave from the album but there are so many great tracks and of course it features the classic "Vision of Love".

Lost 4 of my top 10 in the last bunch and many more.

1. Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
6. Green Day - Dookie
9. R.E.M. - Out of Time

A bit sad Oasis are only #20.

"CrazySexyCool" should be in the top 5! It's one of the greatest R&B albums of all time.

"Emotions" and "Mariah Carey" are good albums that introduced Mariah's voice to the world but they're not her best.

Lose another two of my top 10. I'm so happy Björk is that high. I was expecting her to be much lower. I'm sure her next albums will be in the top 10 :D

1.
2.
3.
4. Green Day - Dookie
5.
6.
7. Alanis Morisette - SFIJ
8. Bjork - Debut
9.
10. Radiohead - Ok Computer

I thought Britney would be number 1, so I'm quite happy she has fallen out :D

Artist: MARIAH CAREY
Title: MUSIC BOX
Year: 1993

Points: 522

Image

Music Box is the third studio album by American recording artist Mariah Carey. It was released by Columbia Records on August 31, 1993, in North America. The album comprises ballads primarily co-written by Carey and Walter Afanasieff, with whom she had previously worked on Emotions (1991), and a few urban dance tracks. During the course of the album's development, Carey wanted to broaden her audience, choosing a more pop-oriented sound. During this time frame, they experimented with different organs and other musical instruments, leading the album's sound away from her more contemporary previous efforts.

Artist: JANET JACKSON
Title: janet.
Year: 1993

Points: 545

Fifth studio album by American recording artist Janet Jackson, released on May 18, 1993 by Virgin Records. Prior to its release, Jackson was at the center of a high-profile bidding war over her recording contract. Her original label A&M sought to renew her contract, while others, such as Atlantic, Capitol, and Virgin all vied to sign her. After meeting with Virgin owner Richard Branson, she signed with the label for an unprecedented multi-million dollar contract, making her the world's then-highest paid musical act.

Nice position for 'janet.'

It's not my favourite album by her (not even in my top 5 Janet albums), but I'm glad to see it go top 20. Hoping 'The Velvet Rope' can go top 10.

Had lost my whole Top 5 by No.30 and whole Top 10 by No.20!
