Elton John hospitalised for 'serious respiratory infection'

The musician checked into Los Angeles's Cedars-Sinai Hospital yesterday, according to TMZ.

He is thought to have had a number of tests and may now have been released from the institution.

However, John has allegedly been forced to cancel four concerts due to take place in Las Vegas this weekend.

The cancelations come after doctors advised John not to perform for a week, adding that he needs "complete rest and antibiotic treatment to prevent damage".

John is quoted as saying that not performing "feels strange", adding: "I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts.

"All I can say to the fans is, 'Sorry I can't be with you'."

May his recovery go smoothly, the last thing we need is another you-know-what.

I'm sure Elton John will be fine: he has way too much fire in his heart to let something like this take him out.

I am sure the diehard Madonna fans will have a field day with this, since I know a lot of them hate him now (I know one on another board has done a 1000 Reasons Elton Sucks thread lol). Honestly, Elton's had way too great a discography to hate just because he isn't afraid to speak his mind on another famous icon.

The last straw for a lot of people was Elton making a snide remark about her when eulogizing Donna Summer, a lot of M fans think he was tactless
