In terms of amount of episodes per series it's not a case of who produced it, but what network comissioned it. Both Showtime and BBC are renowned for not having long series' unless it's a guaranteed ratings-winner.

Showtime has renewed Episodes and Shameless for second seasons, the cable network has announced.

Episodes, a co-production between Showtime Networks in the US and the BBC in the UK, was renewed with the number of episodes to be determined at a later date. Drama Shameless was picked up for 12 season two episodes.

"The viewer loyalty and critical acclaim that has met both Shameless and Episodes since their January debuts makes it clear that these two brash and sophisticated series are burgeoning hits," said Showtime President of Entertainment David Nevins.

He added: "[Shameless producer] John Wells is carving out a tone that is truly unique in the television landscape - equal parts drama and comedy. And Episodes marks the universally embraced and hilarious return to television of an inspired comedy triumvirate: Matt LeBlanc, and creators Jeffrey Klarik and David Crane.

"We are thrilled with the response to both series and eager to start planning for their second seasons."

Yes, loved it!

It's maintained the same, adult sense of humour as before.

This show is all about Carol. <3

  That whole scene just creased me up. The timing was so perfect from Myra.

Glad to see Matt and Sean will be on better terms now.

Matt making deaf sex noises was brilliant.

Loving Bev's assistant too.

Really? I thought it was the least LOLworthy. But it was nice to see a bit more of a dynamic between Matt/Sean/Bev.

The whole 'Make A Wish' conversation was hilarious. "she kept on living, and living, and living"

Felt sorry for Carol at the end, poor bitch. I hope she doesn't go back to Merc.

Can we give Myra her own spin-off? She's so fabulous and funny. "GYPSIES!"

I know it's wrong but I'm not overly fussed if Sean and Beverley get back together. I'm very interested to see what happens to Carol and whether she accepts the job or not.

Can't believe it's the last episode next week.

Seems like no one's really watching this (on here or in the world).

The finale was pretty great IMO. I thought they tried to fit too much in though so some of it felt rushed as a consequence.

Loved that Carol finally got rid of Merc, and Sean and Bev reunited!

I just hope it gets a third season. I need more Myra hilarity - her offering to pop Matt's shoulder back in was great.

A lot of my friends love this show so it was on my to-see list for a long time.

Just started with season 1 today. Watched the first 3 episodes and I'm hooked.

Sooo funny! :D

I thought the fight scene was pretty ridiculous but overall it was a great finale!

Love Myra and Carol!

Been renewed for a third season. So exciting! I hope we see Carol in charge of the network and plenty more Myra!

To be fair, I thought it would be cancelled too. The ratings weren't very good last season but LeBlanc's Golden Globe probably ensured that this got a thrid season. Thankfully!
