Express Yourself + Born This Way + "SHe's Not Me"

The Material Girl takes a swipe at the Lady as she launches into Born This Way during tour rehearsals
When Lady Gaga released her single Born This Way last year, many commentated on how much it sounded like Madonna's well-known song Express Yourself.
Even The Material Girl herself hinted at the similarities between the two songs at the time saying she thought they were 'interesting'.

But she clearly hasn't let it go and last night she was filmed rehearsing in Israel for her MDNA tour taking what appeared to be a swipe at her younger contemporary.

As she was practising her moves for Express Yourself, the song then went into a percussion break before Madonna launched into Born This Way.

She then mashed Express Yourself back into the song before she started to sing She's Not Me from her 2008 album 'Hard Candy'.

The leaked footage appeared on YouTube today but it was unclear whether Madonna was paying homage to Gaga or having a dig.

It is funny for a minute. But then I realise that Madonna is seriously pressed over GaGa stealing her glory. Bad move Madge.

But madge NEVER acted this way when Britney,Christina & Jessica happened in the late 90's

Why start now? is it because Gaga is more similar to her than xtina & britney ever was??

I wonder what "Nothingfails" will have to say about this so called "Rivalry" which kinda makes madge look a bit pressed & immature.

I'd be pressed too if some bitch who's only been relevant for 4 years releases a single that sounds just like my classic hit and people buy it up like hot cakes while my brand new single and album have fallen to their death off the charts

I'm sure he's writing his essay as we speak

La Donna is being reductive now. She should retire gracefully.

Madonna was a newlywed, artistic and gracefully cute back then she didn't have time for the disney graduates, but now she's menopaused, having her midlife crisis and plain pressed..

also, the fact that she skipped The Staple Singers' Respect Yourself makes this "shade" invalid!

Queens do not become pressed, they shrug it off. Madonna is very pressed, like this goes beyond pressed, this is just pathetic.

I'm on Madonna's side here. A good move, which really shows up Lady Gaga's copying.

Didn't Madonna steal the music from a Janet Jackson remix in 1989 and use it for one of her most well-known songs: Vogue (1990)?

True, but I think the fault lies with the producer there because both songs were produced by the same guy.

Ukmixers, don't pay attention to Star. His hatred/Jeslousy obsession with Madonna goes beyond accepted.

No essays here, but.... how is that any different than this? Madonna took crap for people who thought Like A Virgin was copying Billie Jean and did this as a jab to her critics. So if she's being reductive now, she's always been.

Wow, never seen that before.

The difference there is, Madonna was being accused of copying, but now she is the one being copied.

What I love the most is that nobody has called Girl Gone Wild out for copying deadmau5's "Some Chords". I honestly hear more similarities between those two songs than EY/BTW, which I thought is a fairly generic common chord progression, Hanson's "Where's The Love" and Kelly Clarkson's "Walk Away" are quite similar to these two songs as well. The music and beat to GGW is practically identical to Some Chords.

True, but Deadmau5 is probably the most successful electronic artist at the moment and I am sure considering the people M's worked with for MDNA, there's some familiarity with the track and that she has likely heard it.
