I hadn't really thought about it until you made that comment, but I haven't seen "Brokenhearted" on many other personal charts! not sure why, though...it's a tune. <3
It's already dropping off in mine though lol. Have you heard "Too Many Fish"? It's a great track too. Or "Crash Your Party" if you want something Pop-ish.

Great to see Maroon 5 back to the top 10 this week. :P

idk exactly what it is about that song, but "We Found Love" just doesn't get old! it's far-and-away the most played song in my entire iTunes library (at 290 plays, the runner-up only has 205), and I'm still not sick of it. 8-)

JSparksFan wrote:Ooh, much congrats on your 100th #1! It couldn't have gone to a better artist. And this chart may just be your best one yet!
*reaches for Kleenex* thank you, Akini  Kylie thanks you too, of course. I'm still not sure exactly what I want to do to commemorate this momentous occasion, but I promise it will be unveiled by the end of the week. oh, and if you haven't noticed, I'm stealing your format for thanking/commenting on people's comments. be honored.

no need to apologize! you can post in my thread as often as you like without ever having to say "sorry". ;)

kidding aside ;) I hope your comment means you love "Timebomb" too! even though it's only been less than 2 years since "All The Lovers", I'm always craving new Kylie material!

8-) amen! Kylie sh*ts over...most of the world, really...but that's one brown shower I can't get enough of. is that too dirty for UKMix? any rate, Kylie = amazing, and I love that you love "Timebomb" too! <3

Aw, I really like the bolded statement. Totally cute.

As for your #1's from 2009, I'd have to put them into three groups.

Epic:
- Bad Romance
- Dance In The Dark
- Defying Gravity

Very Good:
- Need You Now
- Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart

Haven't Yet Heard But Will Check Out:
- 3 Words
- Ego
- Male Prima Donna
- Wonderwall

EGO: Brilliant, one of The Sats' best songs. A real thumper.
BAD ROMANCE: my favourite GaGa song (though that's not saying much given my dislike for her)
DEFYING GRAVITY: I loved this at first but, in comaprison to the original Chenoweth/Menzel version it's pretty poor. Have yu heard the original?
NEED YOU NOW: fab
DANCE IN THE DARK: good for GaGa
3 WORDS: nice little song
WONDERWALL: all-time classic
TRY SLEEPING WITH A BROKEN HEART: just love it!

8-)

Well done on reaching that milestone, I'm very impressed

Also, couldn't have asked for a better chart topper (so glad it wasn't Taylor Swift!!!)

Some fantastic chart toppers there in 2009 too. My favourite would have to be "Ego" closely followed by the two Gaga songs, both amazing.

Actually on second thoughts "Wonderwall" is my favourite... a timeless classic!

Alicia Keys & Cheryl Cole songs are also great too.

 well, thank you, sir! I like your grouping-method for the No. 1's. once we get to 2010 and 2011, years that had many more chart-toppers, there will probably be a lot more that you haven't heard yet, but I won't hold it against you if you don't check them ALL out ;) I'd love to her what you think about the ones you do, though!

many thanks for doing a thorough commentary! glad to see you like almost everything in this first bunch. I actually haven't heard the Chenoweth/Menzel original, but I did see Wicked when I was in London in 2009, so I've heard whoever was performing those parts there.

joel77m77 wrote:Alicia Keys' Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart is a great song.
so true! I'd say it's my 2nd-favorite single from Alicia, after "No One". :D

steophonic wrote:Well done on reaching that milestone, I'm very impressed

thank you for that first part (I tend to have that effect on people, and not just when it comes to my charts) ;) but I can't say I'm wild about the Taylor shade. you better brace yourself, because you'll be seeing a lot more of her in my 2010 recap!

stevyy wrote:whitney is such a class act. i love to see, you giving her another tribute this week.
glad you like it! I've been playing her so much lately partially because of Akini's Whitney tribute, as well as some excellent sales that Best Buy has been having, so I picked up all of her studio albums (bar the holiday one).

EGO - The Saturdays (1 Week) - Pure brilliance! Their best single so far, still love it and play it regulary! :D

BAD ROMANCE - Lady Gaga (1 Week) - Another brilliant song, my favorite by Gaga and one of my all-time favorite songs! <3 :D

DANCE IN THE DARK - Lady Gaga (1 Week) - Far from Gaga's best, but still an awesome song which deserved a full release!

3 WORDS - Cheryl Cole ft. will.i.am (1 Week) - My favortie track from Cheryl's debut, even thought it got old really fast.

WONDERWALL - Oasis (1 Week) - Just amazing! <3 <3

TRY SLEEPING WITH A BROKEN HEART - Alicia Keys (1 Week) - One of Alicia's best! :D

Of course I'm going to check all of them out. I might end up loving some. So, here goes nothing! :D

3 Words: 8/10 - On first listen, this is pretty fabulous! It makes her new single, "Call My Name" sound like turd. :o

Ego: 8.5/10 - Admittedly, since Bey's "Ego" is so...overtly sexual, I was a bit afraid to check out this track but it's really good! The bridge is Poptastic! :D

Male Prima Donna: 6.5/10 - Gurl, this must be one of your guilty pleasure tracks, Paul. The lyrics are super ridiculous but I love the spoken bits and the rap verse is great too.

Wonderwall: 6/10 - I figured this would end up being my least fave of the four but it isn't too shabby. Oasis is not really my kind of act but it's great for the genre of music, I guess.

Round one of undiscovered tracks goes to...The Saturdays! 8-)

:o wow, glad to see so much love for those songs! I didn't realize that many of them are among your absolute favorites from those acts! I totally agree about "Dance In The Dark" getting a proper single release too.

glad to see you love "Ego" so much, it's definitely one of (if not my absolute) favorite singles from The Sats! not too surprised you're not too crazy about "Male Prima Donna", it's from The Office, which was one of my absolute favorite TV shows at the time, so it's meant to be pretty ridiculous. ;)

IT'S MY LIFE/CONFESSIONS PART II - Glee Cast - one of their best mash-ups.
NATURALLY - Selena Gomez & The Scene - nice little song
UNITED STATE OF POP 2009 - DJ Earworm - awesome mix
VANILLA TWILIGHT - Owl City <3 Owl City
TELEPHONE - Lady Gaga ft. Beyoncé - good but overrated
TURN IT UP - Pixie Lott - average
LIKE A PRAYER - Glee Cast - Lea Michele sounds strained but it's good
TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART - Glee Cast - flawless
ALL THE LOVERS - Kylie Minogue - QueenKylie + Naked men in video = amazing
2 AM - The Saturdays - sounds like Bieber's 'Baby' but much better
UNTIL YOU WERE GONE - Chipmunk ft. Esmée Denters - very good song
HIGHER - The Saturdays - infectiously amazing
JUST THE WAY YOU ARE - Bruno Mars - pure brilliance
PROMISE THIS - Cheryl Cole - so she CAN speak French. Song is annoyingly catchy.
TELEPHONE - Glee Cast - decent enough
WHAT'S MY NAME? - Rihanna ft. Drake - overrated
TEENAGE DREAM - Glee Cast - makes my heart melt
CANNIBAL - Ke$ha - tra$hy but good
SOMEONE WAKE ME UP - Joe McElderry - BRILLIANT song
MERRY CHRISTMAS DARLING - Glee Cast - decent cover

  The days when you actually liked Glee.

glad to see you love "Ego" so much, it's definitely one of (if not my absolute) favorite singles from The Sats! not too surprised you're not too crazy about "Male Prima Donna", it's from The Office, which was one of my absolute favorite TV shows at the time, so it's meant to be pretty ridiculous. ;)
Speaking of The Office, every single time I go by my sister we always watch at least five episodes. Ryan is so cute.
