But the top 5 only contains albums from 3 different years.NothingFails wrote:1. Butterfly (Mariah rules UKMix, let's face it)
2. Ray Of Light
3. Jagged Little Pill
4. The Velvet Rope
5. Dangerous
If not in that order, I see these five somehow being the top 5 regardless.
Good call. I guess either Alanis or ROL will be switched out for Nirvana since that and Dangerous were both 1991 albums.biscuits wrote:But the top 5 only contains albums from 3 different years.NothingFails wrote:1. Butterfly (Mariah rules UKMix, let's face it)

I don't think 'Butterfly' will be #1, because even though Mariah rules UKMIX, none of her other albums could even go top 10.
Butterfly is the sixth studio album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, released on September 16, 1997, by Columbia Records. The album contained both hip-hop and R&B sounds, as well as some softer and more contemporary melodies. Throughout the project, Carey worked with Walter Afanasieff, with whom she had written and produced most of the material from her previous albums. She also worked with many famed hip-hop producers and rappers, such as Sean "Puffy" Combs, Kamaal Fareed, Missy Elliott and Jean Claude Oliver and Samuel Barnes from Trackmasters. With the latter acts producing most of the album, Butterfly deviated from the contemporary sound of Carey's older work, and was hailed as a defining album of the 1990s and of pop and R&B music.
The Velvet Rope is the sixth studio album by American recording artist Janet Jackson, released October 7, 1997 by Virgin Records. Prior to its debut, Jackson had been at the center of a second high-profile bidding war over her recording contract. Following the release of her first greatest hits compilation Design of a Decade 1986/1996 in 1995, her contract with Virgin allotted her the option to leave the label. The Walt Disney Company attempted to sign her jointly with PolyGram, while Virgin sought to renegotiate her contract in order to retain her. Virgin was able to succeed in their negotiations, with Jackson receiving a historic $80 million dollar contract, making her the world's highest paid musical act for the second time in her career.
The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album is the soundtrack from the film of the same name, released on November 17, 1992, by Arista Records and mainly features songs by Whitney Houston, as well as songs from various other artists. The album was co-executive produced by Whitney Houston and Clive Davis. With this album, Houston became the first act (solo or group, male or female) to sell more than a million copies of an album within a single-week period, since the Nielsen SoundScan introduced a computerized sales monitoring system in May 1991. The soundtrack later went on to win a Grammy Award for Album of the Year and was certified 17× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America on November 1, 1999. To date, it has sold over 44 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling soundtrack album of all time, as well as one of the best selling albums of all time.
