Alexandra Burke - Let It Go

Postby Colin » Sun Jun 03, 2012 5:14 pm

Yikes. Poor Alex.

Time to "let it go", maybe?*

*"It" being that generic dance sound.

Obviously it ain't the sound, otherwise artists like Usher, Rihanna or Chris Brown wouldn't keep having big hits with their dance sound. I think people are just over her and for some reason find her unlikeable.
I personally think the songs she's been putting out are a cut above your average dance track. It certainly pisses all over Scream, but we all know that is heading towards the top10...

Tragic. I saw her last night and she performed this and me and Adam were pretty much the only ones who knew all the lyrics it seemed

I do agree that although I love it, it's one of those songs that pretty much anyone could have recorded, the whole album (not listened in full yet) seems to be along those lines too. She definitely needs to stamp her identity more.

I'm glad there's been articles about her radio snub too!

Exactly.

This song has way more character than that generic fluff. I think it's quite appalling that artists can essentially be blacklisted from radio for what is likely to be a very trivial reason.

Yes, because we all know that, deep down, Chris Brown is a lovable rogue, but best known for his endearing personality. Obviously.

Music/taste is subjective. Alex has always done very well (up to this point), and, most of the time, with little or no radio support. Judging by 'Elephant' and its poor chart run, as well as how dismal this single is doing, it appears that there is something about these releases that are not clicking with the public. I am not saying that Alex has never been treated badly by DJs, but the proof is in the pudding, as she has done remarkably well in the past.

Right now, Alex just pales in comparison to other artists, unfortunately.

THIS!
But that's not a reason to flop this horribly!
Like someone else said, why does Alex have to work twice as hard as some others putting out obvious crappy singles (LMFAO, Pitbull) to have a bit of success in this business?
This music is no different than what's out there on the radios, she's being boycotted, there's nothing that she could've done to save the inevitable... a FLOP... Radio is not supporting her... so , the music is not the cause of this failure

It all went downhill from her appearance on the X Factor last year as a judge, and thus her saying 'OK.com'. It rubbed people up the wrong way and she's not recovered since, despite trying to laugh it off [the T-shirt pap shot, appearance on Celeb Juice etc]. Really, she should've had 'Elephant' ready to roll and guest performed on the show without actually talking - might've helped.

I didn't expect this to flop so hard, especially since it was released in the "old way" I thought a the top 20 debut was guaranteed...!
