TRUE!

6 million is absolutely awesome, given all that's happened. She never gave up on the project until she had to (meaning intense promo for the album stopped after MTN) which was smart given its lack of success.

But the album still did some very great numbers!
"Take A Bow"... Rihanna's ONLY ballad to go #1 on the Hot 100 (also topped the R&B Chart)... Great deed for her most epic ballad!!!

So Adele's 21 18 million figure is also shipped and not sold, according to you?

Previous years IFPI numbers were a bit high and obviously were shipments, not sales... But 2011 numbers are too close to real sales to be shipments.

Gaga has sold 6 million and a lot more is shipped. Same thing for Adele...

Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" topped the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks last year and has sold 3.7 million downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

3.7mln is a great result, but on the other hand, it's quite disappointing considering huge debut sales + the boost after grammys performance

That's obvious! IFPI works with shipments, its hard sales through the end of November (IFPI year end counts sales December to December) were lower.

Agreed! To be honest, I hadn't seen the song's sales ever since I read about its amazing opening week and I was shocked to find it hadn't even gone that far over 3 million (back then).

I was sure after the first week this would easily do 4m and might even end up her third/fourth 5m selling single. Ah well.

Why only the top 10?
iTunes is small in New Zealand?

I think there's no enough time to hit (for example) top 3, cause the chart is out on Tuesday

Great result in New Zealand!! Hopefully it is going to be the same in other countries, especially in Netherlands  since they totally snubbed her last year. :x
