Album Chart Run - 46 Weeks (5 weeks Top 10, 19 Weeks Top 20)

1-3-4-6-10-19-20-24-25-21-13-13-14-15-18-23-31
-38-32-20-18-17-16-19-28-38-48-52-72
-69-67-51-50-33-25-19-19-28-27-28-33
-32-36-41-49-57-OUT OF TOP 75
It was released in the Q4, wasn't it? It was the 15th best selling album of 1995 (sales unknown) and the 55th best seller of the following year (210.000 copies sold). I believe it sold at very very least 700.000 copies through 1995 and 1996, probably around 800.000-850.000. We know that by December 1995, the album had already shipped 600.000 copies due to its 2xPlatinum certification and then it sold an additional 210.000 copies the following year. One million seems right to me, including non-retail sales.

Yet both Celine and Mariah individually, have sold more albums than Britney and the Spices combined.

Added to which, worldwide Mariah and Celine have both sold not far off what Britney has sold singles wise.

Well i know she is so high because of the digital single sales, and that´s why britney is also higher i think.

I think they both sold then really well there, because they haven´t big catalog.

But Femme Fatalle did not well there i think, so maybe Britney will not even reach 6

Yeah, I was talking about worldwide album sales with my statement above.

Britney - as have Rihanna, Katy Perry, P!nk, Beyonce and Lady Gaga - has done really well in the UK.

why shudn't britney and co be massive in the uk... it's still the country with the third highest annual albums sales worldwide. In 2 years or 3 Mariah will have her first million selling single there with AIWFCIY and her new era shud also add some more sales. (I hope so at least). It's simply a new era, dominated by downloads and Mariah hasn't been huge during the digital era. not even in the US.. none of the grandes dames have.

she really sold much singles lol
I don´t know if Single + albums she sold more then Celine there?
Whitney has sold 8.2m singles and around 11m albums.

In total, she's sold slightly more records than Celine, who has sold 6.6m singles and an album total that's creeping towards 12m [Whitney has sold around 19.25m records in the UK, Celine has sold around 18.5/18.6m records]

Whitney's sales obviously increased thanks to her death, and they include sales of the Bodyguard OST - which they should, as she's the one that sold the album. Like Celine, she's always been a superb album seller in the UK, I Look To You being the possible exception.

So from the Divas, Mariah was the one who less sold records there, but ok she sold a good amount. I think around 13.000.000

Hope celine and Mariah can sell well with their next albums and keep the divas legacy on, and alive 8-)

Of the big 5, Janet has sold the least. But she isn't really a threat to anyone in the UK lol.

Female artists that have sold more than Mariah in the UK...

Madonna, Whitney, Celine, Kylie, Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Rihanna - all off the top of my head.

Cher has also sold a similar amount of records to Mariah in the UK [both have sold around 14m records].

the fact is Mimi switched to R&B after Daydream and that caused her lots of sales everywhere (including USA).. Her album sales would definitely matchup to her peers had she stuck with pop music

14m in the UK is pretty awesome for someone who's said to be irrelavant in Europe. and that's just the UK.. Mariah also has nice sales in other territories that is why she probably sold 50% of her 200m total outside the US with probably 21+ million records sold in Japan (excluding ringtones and the likes)

If Mariah recieved an award in 1999/2000 for sales of over 25 million albuns in Europe, it´s a chance the actually her sales are between 32-33 million albuns here?

Mariah sold 27/28 million albums in europe. Which is nothing to be ashamed of. But it really is a shame that butterfly and rainbow sold so poorly in the uk.

Mariah's European album sales in thousands: (mostly by MJD)

Mariah Carey 1150
Emotions 1260
MTV Unplugged 1290
Music Box 7720
Merry Christmas 1600
Daydream 3860
Butterfly 1450
#1s 2770
Rainbow 1570
Glitter 420
Greatest Hits 1400
Charmbracelet700
The Remixes 50
The Emancipation Of Mimi 1360
E=MC² 500
The Ballads 500
Memoirs 250
MCIIY 150

TOTAL: 28.000.000 copies shipped with Daydream possibly overestimated imo.

Butterfly/Rainbow really flopped pretty badly in Europe.

28 million in Europe is so good! It's just that when you compare it with Madonna's european sales, don't look that good... but we know she's no queen in Europe!
28M in Europe
19M in Japan
70M in USA
= 117M + around more than 30M in the rest of the world = that would make around 150M albums WW
