I wouldn't be surprised if Legend qualifies for 14-15 million considering it had seven years of pre-Soundscan sales (where it made it as high as #54 and was charting off and on many times) and was also in record clubs in the 80's and 90's.

It should be close to 4x because its a double-disc set.

Interesting as a whole how little the labels care about certs anymore. Back in the day where sales were thriving, every album worthy of a cert got said cert, albums like Jagged Little Pill and Come On Over were getting new certs every other month. Yet now you have albums that are selling 1-2 million beyond their cert, to no luck.

Wouldn't surprise me at all either, Legend is one of the most consistent greatest hits catalogue sellers of all time and, I would imagine, will continue to be.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I was surprised to discover the other day that Michael Buble's Christmas, which has sold over 2.4 million copies, has not been certified at all yet. Perhaps they are waiting until it passes 3 or 4 million this coming Christmas season?

Look at the April RIAA stats:

"In April the RIAA awarded a total of *5* albums, *37* digital singles."

Labels are now certifying singles over albums.

We need to contact the artists and tell them to have their labels certify their undercertified albums with the RIAA.

Essential Billy Joel has sold 1.557 million. That's 3xp.

Whitney has sold 2.515 million, enough for 5xp.

There are not 250k of these albums sitting on record store shelves/music clubs.

The whole point of this thread is an "easy" updated RIAA certification.
