But, if the latest German Charts, (Dated June 8th),
are for Sales from Friday 25th May to Thursday 31st
May, how come Loreen has entered the latest German
Singles Chart at No.1? She did not Win the ESC until
last Saturday - 2nd June - so, why would she enter
at No.1, if the latest German Charts end their Sales
on Thursday 31st May?

i don't know, if it's true, but i heard, that only physical sales count that late. digital sales count earlier

I wonder how this song could have entered the charts at #2! It was never listet in the download charts and didn't even enter the bavarian TOP 20 Singles Charts (Sales & Downloads). Very strange...

It's no wonder that this song did not enter the BAVARIAN charts. It would be very strange if this Dortmund hymn had a lot of fans in southern Germany.

I have a question, did Media Control or any other publication release a list of the best selling singles of the '90s? I think either Elton John or Andrea Boccelli with Sarah Brightman would be #01.

On that list, some million sellers from the late 1970s/ early 1980s are missing ("Rivers Of Babylon", "Das Lied der Schlümpfe", "Sun Of Jamaica" and "Words"). All these singles were certified platinum which was one million singles at that time. However, platinum was already lowered to sales of 500k in 1987 (and not in 1989), so "Lambada" has a sales total of one and not two million. "The Ketchup Song" is another million seller that is missing on that list.

All the singles from the 1990s are listed correctly according to their certifications. One single that was never certified is "Das Boot" by U96, I'm sure that it sold at least half a million copies, maybe even one million (it was 13 weeks at number one in 1992).

I think that only core fans will buy it, the main public propably didn't even notice... It also didn't do well on the online shops (at the moment at No. 1770 on Amazon iirc) and physical sales shouldn't be way higher, therefore I really don't expect much from it.

Because the year-end chart of 1997 was based on points and not on sales.

Wasn't he #1 of 1997?

EDIT: My Heart Will Go On, was, right? or Time To Say Goodbye? I don't remember...

SO 1996 was also based on points system when Children was #2 of that year and didn't sell million copies.

2010 was the first year where the year end chart was based on sales (respectively revenues).

Time To Say Goodbye was #1 in 1997.
