ARIA Top 50 Singles Chart

• 6 weeks running, Flo Rida's 'Whistle' continues to captivate the nation. It now ties his earlier 2012 hit 'Wild Ones' as the longest running #1 single of the year. He looks likely to be #1 again next week, so he could have the biggest hit of the year so far on his hands.

• Amidst strong competition, Chris Brown remains steady with 'Don't Wake Me Up' in the top 5. He'll need a video if he really wants to compete with those already established hits.

• Gym Class Heroes blast into the top 10 with their new hit 'The Fighter'. This marks three consecutive top 10 hits for the group, all of which had feature artists.

• I picked it as an Aussie hit and Rita Ora's 'How We Do (Party)' flies in the top 20 this week. It is top 10 bound next week as the nation loves to 'party and bullshit'

• No messing around, radio stations across the nation pretty much forced Nicki to run with 'Pound The Alarm' as her new pop single. An immediate hit, it should debut straight into the top 20, where 'Starships' continues to fly

• Bulleting to #13 this week, 'Wide Awake' becomes Katy Perry's twelfth top 20 hit single in her short, but impressive career.

• Delta's 'Sitting On Top Of The World' holds on well, continuing a slow descent down the charts. It is likely to be certified double platinum next week and we can expect a new single to premiere sometime in the next 2-3 weeks.

• The Voice impacts are getting stronger, as four contestants manage to make the top 20 this week from Team Keith & Team Joel. The impact may drop however, as the judges will be choosing those who go through to the finale on tomorrows show, rather than votes/downloads. However, expect downloads to be huge for the top 4 finale, potential cover at #1 to be had?

• Will.I.Am has always struggled to score hits outside of his B.E.P. moniker. However, 'This Is Love' looks like it will fare much better than previous single 'T.H.E.'. Debuting at #42 this week, him and Eva could see the edge of the top twenty come next Sunday

• It took a while, but US hit 'Brokenhearted' by the duo Karmin looks to finally be catching on. Expect them to bullet close to the top 20 as well

• Claire Bowditch could enter the singles chart for the first time ever with her Offspring song 'You Make Me Happy', looking to land close to #50

• Some songs to keep an eye on from tomorrow - Rudimental's UK hit 'Feel The Love', Train's new single '50 Ways To Say Goodbye' and Johnny Ruffo's debut single comes out Friday.

Hopefully yes. I'm frankly tired of seeing Whistle at the top. Fingers crossed that Call Me Maybe will be above Wild Ones & this on the YEC.

Australian songstress Missy Higgins grabs her third chart topping album, following the steps of The Sound Of White and On A Clear Night. The Ol Razzle Dazzle is the fourth aussie album to top the chart this year, which is already more than in 2011. Keith Urban and One Direction hold onto their spots at #2 and #3. Ed Sheeran moves back up 2 to #4. Country star Alan Jackson grabs his highest charting album at #6, just beating the #7 peak of 34 Number Ones. Seal's Hits is up 5 to #8. Adele's second LP holds onto the #10 spot. By doing so, 21 now holds the longest consecutive run in the ARIA Top 10, beating P!nk's I'm Not Dead.

The Black Keys and 360 are close to re-entering the Top 10, helped to their latest singles. Alston & The Bee Gees' Number Ones are up 6 to reach new peaks at #16 and #17 respectively. After a surprisingly low debut last week, the Voice: The Final 24 moves up 8 to #18. Skrillex' EP rises back to #19 thanks to the 'Buy 2 Get 1 Free' deals in JB Hi Fi stores.

Sydney metalcore band Buried In Verona score their first charting album with their third effort, coming at #20. Rebecca Ferguson bullets to #22, helped by a discount on iTunes. There's a #28 debut for funk band The Bamboos. Neil Young's new LP comes in at #34. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros couldn't emuluate their US Top 10 entry Down Under, coming at #37. Sam Sparro's second album is new at #41 and Good Charlotte's Greatest Hits finally cracks the Top 50 at #45.

A lot of Greatest Hits packages / recent albums re-enter the albums chart thanks to the JB Hi Fi discounts. Special mention this week goes to The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac. The album, which has vaulted to #29 this week, has now accumulated a very impressive 300 weeks in the Top 100. This is the longest running album in Australian chart history. Even though it never went higher than #16, it has always had strong catalogue sales. Proof is that the album has managed to make the weekly Top 50 every year since its release in 2002. The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac has now sold half a million units in Australia.

Next week: It could very well be a battle of Aussies: Missy Higgins and Xavier Rudd. Don't know who will be the winner. The latter is still #1 on iTunes but don't know whether physical sales will be as strong. Usher will be Top 5, Hot Chip probably low Top 10. Donavan Frankenreiter, Jonathan Boulet and Rumer may find a place in the Top 50.

Sorry for the double post. According to Noise11, Missy sold 15 321 units to enter at #1 and John Mayer did slightly more than 3 200 sales at #7.

This is Missy's lowest first week sales. The Sound Of White entered at #1 on 19 326 copies in 2004 and On A Clear Night debuted on 34 529 units.

TTT by Rihanna is really flopping everywhere outside the UK and Ireland. I mean, her latest single at no.10 and the album at 67!! How much is selling? Like 50 copies? :lol:

Even Katy is selling more copies with an almost 2 year old album.

Her single must have sold 12,500 units at #10 this week and Talk That Talk between 500-600 units at #67.

Do you know if the first-week-sales of The Sound Of White were its highest weekly sales? If I remember correctly, it spent a long time in the (upper part of the) top 10 with some more weeks at No. 1, so when did its sales peak take place?

@Rihanna: I also expected Where Have You Been to have a better influence on the album's sales... I mean No. 67 is really bad when the current single is in the top 10 - not to forget that her fans always say that she would NOT be a "singles artist".

I can't tell you exactly when its sales peak took place but its first week sales weren't the highest weekly sales.

The Sound Of White sold more during at last three weeks:

19/12/2004: ~ 20 000 at #8
26/12/2004: at #6 (no figure was reported but probably ~ 30 000)
09/05/2005: ~ 21 000 at #3

So sales peak are likely to have occurred just before Christmas 2004.

I know we still have a little over 2 weeks but on Saturday June 30th Channel V is counting down the top 50 songs of the year so far.

I find almost every countdown on Pay TV to be so far stretched and made up that I can almost bet every dollar to my name that this will be made up too.

This weekend they had a special playing the top 400 #1s but so many songs weren't even #1 hits, in particular The Verve's "The Drugs Don't Work" was featured in the countdown which from memory didn't even peak in the top 20 in Oz.

The promo for the mid year countdown had snippets of David Guetta/Nicki Minaj, Timomatic, Black Keys, One Direction, Fun and Coldplay from what I remember.

Anyone want to post their predictions for mid year top 10/20/30/40 or 50s? I really enjoy reading what people think and how they rank songs.

Not entirely true. 'Mail On Sunday' only peaked at #21, but spent 27 weeks in the top 50 and went gold. His second album 'R.O.O.T.S.' peaked at #6 and his latest (pointless) 'Good Feeling EP' peaked at #12. It was only his last album 'Only One Flo' that had dire sales, there are heaps of other artists whose albums perform much worse than his do.

Out of the acts that have had as many huge multi platinum selling singles, he has to be the one who has the worst albums sales. The discrepancy between them is just too big.

The fact that his latest EP, which includes some of the highest selling singles of the past four year can't even go Top 10 (and despite a promo tour) totally proves it.

Who is going to buy an EP that contained no new material and a short tracklist of very high-selling singles? The market was already tapped.

I do agree that there is a big discrepancy for someone of his level, but there are other acts who are more deserving of the 'singles artist' tag.

I think that actually works against him. Since, to most people, he's just that guy with a few hits, they'll either already have the songs or not care. The fact that it sold as much as it did is already a miracle to me, to be honest.

I guess it all depends on his next proper album. Will it do another Only One Flo or will it do better? If it's the former, I'll still think he's one of the biggest singles artists out there.

Your list looks good tynand. However, I don't think that LMFAO is that high and I would place Ass Back Home lower given how quick it dropped once it left the Top 10.

I think that the Top 10 looks like this atm:

I'm really curious to see where Matt Corby will end given his amazing longevity. Same for What Makes You Beautiful. I won't be surprised if both end up outselling several #1s.

Have just read that the Voice winner's album will be released on June 26th. Even though it'll have only three days of sales as it's really on a tuesday, it'll probably enter at #1.

I should have pointed out, that it turned out any votes/downloads for The Voice starting from Monday night are contributing to the The Finale, even though they haven't done their final performances yet. Thus...

She is going to be in the top 3 at this rate.
