I'm in love with Freedom and Streets Of Glory. She deserves a lot of success with this album.

Set to be #2 album behind Gary Barlow's 7-track. At 3 and 4 iTunes.

This is class in a tub, it's just effortlessly epic. It's a bit of a shame that 'Picking Up The Pieces' is as loud as it really gets, but when that's my only criticism I think we've got it pretty damn good.

I think it'll end below Rumer's album in the end...

One more criticism actually - 'Streets Of Glory' should've been twice as long. I wanted it to last forever. <3

Possible. Rumer should do well on physicals but she's not so high on downloads. Paloma has two versions of the album both top 5, Rumer doesn't (one low 20, one low 40).

I like two songs on this a lot: Let Me Down Easy (like Selah Sue's reggae-dub stuff) - and the PSB-ish Blood, Sweat and Tears. Freedom is snappy and 30 Minute Love Affair good. The rest is too bland for me.

The amazing bits scattered throughout the album include:

1) The wob wob wob dubsteppy bit in Let Your Love Walk In.
2) The piano solo after the end of the final chorus in Just Be.
3) The way Freedom starts out all bluesy and goes relatively mental from 0:36 onwards.
4) The almost whimsical backing vocals in Black & Blue repeating the last word of each line.
5) "Beauty" in Beauty of the End sounds slightly off key and I wonder why it was left in, but it does add to the charm.
6) The bass in Let Me Down Easy.

I so thought I was going to be the only person in the world to think 'dubstep' when I heard that part of the song!

I don't know how anyone can call the album 'dull'. Yes, there aren't a lot of really uptempo moments but when the songs are as brilliantly composed with such an incredible voice behind them it really doesn't matter. She's a lot like Marina for me, she has a real flair for songwriting and has such a unique voice she could literally sing anything and it would sound magnificent.

'Streets Of Glory' is my favourite by a good mile - it's gracefully, effortlessly epic - but the entire album has so many strong moments.

Wow, this is really an album that was worth the wait.
I am madly in love with all of it. I just love the way Paloma composes her songs. You can tell that she cared about every single song until she found it to be perfect. Love it, will still be spinning this in 2013. Great record, hope she smashes this time.

#1 in the midweeks! :D

From the Official Charts Company:

Paloma Faith heading for first Number 1 album with Fall To Grace
30/05/2012

By Lauren Kreisler

Hackney starlet Paloma Faith could be on track for her first Official Number 1 album this weekend, as Fall To Grace drops straight into the top spot of today’s Official Albums Chart Update.

The second studio album from the singer/songwriter, produced by Nellee Hooper, looks set to be her highest charting record to date as 2009 debut album Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful peaked at Number 9. The albums features Top 10 single Picking Up The Pieces.

New Entries

Paloma Faith (1) leads a flurry of 13 new entries on today’s Official Albums Chart Update, the rest of the Top 5 separated only by a few thousand copies.

Gary Barlow & The Commonwealth Band are new in at Number 2 with Diamond Jubilee release Sing, while New York glam pop outfit Scissor Sisters are on track for Number 3 with Magic Hour. Rumer’s Boys Don’t Cry and Russell Watson’s Anthems complete the Top 5.

Elsewhere Iceland’s Sigur Ros are back with new album Valtari (6), Melody Gardot’s The Absence (8), Ultravox’s Brilliant (9) Alt-J’s An Awesome Wave (13), Regina Spektor’s What We Saw From The Cheap Seats (14), Architect’s Daybreaker (22) and Laura Wright’s Glorious (30) are all new entries on today’s Update.

And finally, completing this week’s Official Albums Chart Update Top 40 is Public Image Limited with new release This Is PiL (39). In a recent interview with OfficialCharts.com, PiL and Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, AKA Johnny Rotten, let slip that he actually had no idea the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was coming up this weekend.

The singer, who caused wide-spread public outrage with his band’s single God Save The Queen during Her Majesty Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee 35 years ago, was asked what he was planning to do to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, he replied: “I wasn’t actually aware it was coming up! And I’m not joking, this is the actual truth.”

Lydon added that he didn’t remember much of Her Majesty’s Silver Jubilee, either. “When the Sex Pistols did the Jubilee Boat Tour, I was in no fit condition to be aware that was happening either.”
"This time I'm gonna get it right. I'm gonna paint my face like the Guggenheim!"

I don't think so, on Wednesday a full 6,000 ahead of Scissor Sisters and Rumer. I guess the Barlow might sell more over the weekend but more likely next week though? And that was 3.5k behind.

It should definitely chart top 2 either way.

Just listened to the album for the very first time and it's just stunning. I can't really pick a favourite, besides Picking Up The Pieces, but the record as a whole sounds brilliant.

Still haven't got round to listening to this!

Shame she missed #1, still a great result however and the single didn't fall much.

How much does "30 Minute Love Affair" sound like a Gwen Stefani song? She sounds just like her on the chorus!

Her debut had more uptempos obviously but this is such a well produced and listenable album.
